Letâs Talk Cardio! đ«
HIIT or LISS? What is it?
HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training involves repeated short to long bouts of relatively high-intensity exercise alternated with recovery periods of either low-intensity exercise or rest.
In comparison to LISS or Low Intensity Steady State which involves longer durations between 40-60 minutes at a low endurance.
So, why choose HIIT or LISS?
HIIT is beneficial if you are restricted with time, a 15-20 minute HIIT workout will be quick, whilst still getting the effect of burning fat. HIIT workouts also tend to be full body in nature so you can focus on everything, and also very effective for increasing metabolism!
On the other hand, you may prefer LISS. Although more time consuming, it is less daunting compared to a HIIT workout since all you have to do is walk, cycle or swim. There is also little to no recovery time with LISS, so it takes its side along with muscle building.

Gym Fear! đ±
As somebody new walking into a gym, it can be extremely intimidating, even for me when I first started! Hereâs some advice on how to tackle it head on!
Donât be scared to ask questions, there should be a member of staff around and other people training. The gym is a place where people make friends and hopefully someone can help you! Take things one step at a time, just because youâve seen Eddie Hall deadlift 500kg doesnât mean you can do the same, learn the basics and build up. Go in with a friend/someone youâre comfortable with, this will help keep you at ease and hopefully you can have some giggles along the way! Finally, take the induction, donât let your ego take over, if you arenât sure on how to use equipment, ask for an induction, the staff have you covered!

Ladies, Do you train the Upper Body?
There is a misconception in female training that training the upper body will make them âtoo bulkyâ or âlook too muscularâ. In real fact, this takes years of hard training and dieting to achieve this look and more than likely will not happen! But there are benefits to upper body training in females.
Training the upper body can give you the âhourglass figureâ. Achieve this by training the back to create a wide back and a slim waist. It can also help with achieving good posture and irons out possible imbalances such as rounded shoulders. It also adds variation to your workouts instead of just training the lower body! Other benefits are helping with day to day life such as carrying boxes, moving furniture and getting the shopping in, without backache and also can promote fat loss through an increase in muscle mass in turn increasing metabolism!

Exercise Outside of the Gym is NEAT! đ„
NEAT is an acronym for Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis! NEAT relates to the calories we burn through movements outside of planned exercise. This includes walking to the shops, cleaning the house, getting out of bed, and even moving your head or tapping your foot.
The more we increase our NEAT, the more calories we will burn. With a healthy and balanced diet, plus exercise in the gym, this should help us lose weight! Isnât it NEAT!
Comment below more activities you get up to or any more you can think of that will increase your NEAT đđđ

Self Motivation
âWhat do you say to yourself to motivate you to stay consistent?â
Self motivation is a great tool in, and out of the gym. Itâs a tool to stay motivated towards your goal and stay consistent. Tell yourself to remember why you chose that path, tell yourself that you can reach your goal no matter how long it takes, tell yourself to trust the process as it will pay off in the end, tell yourself to stay calm with the goal, it happens when it happens, and enjoy the process.

Why Have a Personal Trainer?
People are always unsure on the whyâs of personal trainers, so let me explain.
A personal trainer is somebody who can hold you accountable for your training, you donât have any pressure walking into the gym thinking âwhat am I going to do todayâ as your personal trainer will have that covered. Our job is to help you reach your goal, keep you motivated along the way, and also, someone to talk to and laugh with. Personal training is also tailor made for your goal, and most importantly, helps with mental health and promoting a healthy lifestyle change!
