IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU WANT TO RUN AS A GUEST
You can come and run with us twice on our Wednesday club night before you make a decision to join us or not.
Usually this isn’t a problem, but the next three weeks will not be representative of our normal club nights.
7th May - it is our club AGM, and so the one and only run will start at 7.15pm and you won’t be able to stay and socialise afterwards
14th May - it is the second in our amazing club race series, and many members will be taking part in this, so non-race runs will be limited due to low numbers
21st May - this week is the LRRL Watermead 10k, and we have a huge team taking part, so again non-race runs will be limited due to low numbers
We will be back to normal on 28th May, with a variety of runs, and a chance to socialise before and after.
If you would like to try us out, please complete this form:-

40 GOOD DEEDS FOR 40 YEARS OF WEST END RUNNERS
Earlier this year we posted about our club challenge for our 40th anniversary to complete 40 Good Deeds for our community.
On Wednesday night at the rowing club we completed our final two good deeds with contributing toys for the Leicester Hospitals Charity Christmas Toy Drive, and donating pet food for Leicester Animal Aid.
The attached image shows all 40 tasks we have completed across the year. By doing some number crunching, 18 members have contributing to the organising of our 40 deeds, and whilst we don't have an exact number we estimate around 100 members have contributed across the year to all of the tasks.
We couldn't have done it without the support of our members enthusiastically taking part and are very proud of what we have achieved!
As well as the 40 Deeds, we have also celebrated our 40th anniversary as a club by creating a special commemorative t-shirt for members, and completed a club 24 hour running relay at Tilton-on-the-Hill in the summer.
With a job well done and an anniversary well celebrated its time to put our feet up over Christmas and wait for the 45th anniversary in 2029!

**WEST END RUNNERS 40TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL**
Our flagship event for our 40th anniversary celebrations took place at the weekend. Based at Emily's Cut campsite in Tilton-on-the-Hill our members completed a 24 hour running event. Starting at 12pm on Saturday, we had runs going from the campsite on the hour, every hour, until 11am on the Sunday, including running all through the night!
We had two routes to choose from, of either 10km or 8km, both mixed terrain, and members of all abilities took part over the weekend, including some very hardy night runners.
We had all sorts of weather through the weekend, but it didn't dampen the spirits, and we finished as planned on Sunday lunchtime with the 24 hour target complete.
It was a wonderful weekend to celebrate our club. What's next for the 45th anniversary in 2029...?

It was our 40th Anniversary this week, and what better way to celebrate than share a fab cake and other goodies at club!

DEEDS 5 & 6 COMPLETE!
On Wednesday evening a group of West End Runners visited Leicester South Foodbank's Regional Distribution hub in South Wigston, where 85.5kg of food donations were made. We spent some time at the centre learning about the work they do and all of the other support activities they provide for the local community. It was a real eye opening visit.
The visit was made as part of a wider country wide initiative for running clubs in the month of February endorsed by England Athletics, started by Fareham Running Club and more information on this can be read here - https://runr.co.uk/pages/foodbankrun
We have also in February had a couple of members go to visit Christ The King Primary School on Glenfield Road to give career and job talks to primary school children. The children had lots of interesting questions for us! (And not just "how much money do you get paid?")
We've had a couple of deeds cancelled in February due to inclement weather but the March tasks are starting to line up and hopefully we can carry on getting to our target of 40 good deeds for our community in the year ahead.
