We’re delighted to have received this wonderful feedback from a local firm of solicitors who regularly instruct members of Chambers, and it’s testimonials like these that make us incredibly proud.
"2 New Street Chambers are best described as an integral part of our team, helping us provide a first-class service to our clients. This practice would not be the same without their assistance, and I have no doubt numerous solicitors’ practices in the region would support that."

On Tuesday evening, 2 New Street Chambers Chambers had the pleasure of hosting the next generation of lawyers from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) for our annual Q&A event.
Led by Sarah Cornish, Counsel specialising in all aspects of family law, the evening provided students with real insight into life at the Bar through the lens of a practising barrister; the varied and unique pathways to becoming a Barrister, and the realities, challenges and rewards of the professions.
For many students it was the first time visiting a Barristers’ Chambers. The evening, began with a short, guided tour of 2 New Street Chambers, a little of its 104 years history and the eminent Barristers, Silks and Judges who have started their careers in Chambers.
This was followed by a lively Q&A session, where 3rd Year students interested in a career at the Bar asked questions about pupillage, advocacy, career progression, and the realities of life in practice.
It was both an informative and enjoyable evening and a pleasure to meet such highly motivated students, along with Dr Jones, Associate Professor at De Montfort University’s School of Law.

2 New Street Chambers is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for Chambers of the Year, while Miss Allen has been shortlisted for Barrister of the Year at this year’s annual Leicestershire Law Society Awards.
These nominations are a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and continued commitment of both Chambers and Miss Allen to family law and the local legal community.
Miss Allen was called to the Bar in 2002 at Lincoln’s Inn and now specialises in public and private law children matters. She has built a formidable reputation representing Guardians, parents, and intervenors in cases of the utmost severity and complexity.
Recent testimonials highlight the strength of both Jenna’s practice and Chambers as a whole:
“I am delighted to support Jenna Allen in her nomination for Barrister of the Year. She is an exceptional family law practitioner whose skill, judgement, and compassion set her apart in what is often a highly complex and emotionally charged area of law.”
“I have worked with New Street Chambers for over 20 years and have no hesitation in commending them for this award. They make the time to discuss cases, particularly those of a complex nature or where solicitors are dealing with vulnerable clients. In this regard, their commitment to client care is second to none.”
The winners will be announced at the awards evening held at the Athena in May, and we are very much looking forward to attending what is always a fantastic event. We would also like to wish all other finalists the very best of luck.

This Wednesday, Miss Allen and Miss Miss Kazmi will be delivering an Advocacy Workshop for students at Leicester University, designed to develop their cross-examination skills and enhance their courtroom presence.
The workshop will centre on a realistic Private Law scenario, with issues including with whom the child should live, what time the child should spend with the non-resident parent, and whether any safeguards or conditions are required. The workshop will culminate in a mock trial on 19th March, where it will be brought to life in a courtroom-style setting, with Miss Allen and Miss Cornish presiding as Judges.
The mock trial will provide students with a valuable opportunity to apply their advocacy skills in practice, while strengthening their confidence, professionalism, and ability to think on their feet under pressure.
We always look forward to supporting local students and help them develop their practical skills ready for a future career in law.
