Birstall Golf Club is situated to the north of Leicester and enjoys magnificent views over the city, the hills of Charnwood forest, and to the east towards Rutland. Birstall Golf Club is 6239 yards long with a par of 70 and standard scratch score of 71 from the men’s competition tees and is a delight to play, providing a fair and exciting challenge to the golfer. There are superb greens and fairways with some very challenging tree-lined holes on a layout which is fairly easy to walk. The course and the facilities of the clubhouse ensure that members and visitors alike can enjoy a pleasant but challenging round and a friendly, sociable conclusion to their visit. Societies are most welcome at Birstall Golf Club and we are easy to find being close to Leicester. An extra feature of the club is the Great Central Railway with steam engines pulling in and out of the station, adjacent to the course.

We are thrilled to announce that Birstall have won the LRGU Men’s Foursomes Final today against Luffenham Heath at Rothley Park! This is the first time since 2006 the club have won the competition, and was a special moment for everyone.

Joe Marvell & Stu Wheeler conceded 1 shot and won 3 up, whilst Adam Dalby & Dan Frith conceded 5 shots and won 5 up, for a total 8 up win!

Many thanks goes to all the supporters today, it was fantastic seeing so many friendly faces.

8 players represented the club in this competition this season, highlighting the team effort in this win. So thanks to Luke Marvell, Stu Marriott, Chris Webb and Carl Henson for their wins in previous rounds.

This caps an unbelievable season for the 1st Team, being Scratch League Division 3 winners, comfortably keeping the Chapman Cup & Men’s Foursomes winners.

The leaves may be starting to turn and the mornings getting a little cooler, but there’s still plenty of golf to be played at Birstall.

Birstall Retain the Chapman Cup! 🏆

Birstall Men’s 1st Team retained the Chapman Cup with an excellent 6–2 win over Rothley Park Golf Club at home on Sunday 27th September.

Dating back to 1938, this annual fixture is a much-valued tradition and a keenly contested rivalry between the two clubs. Having regained the trophy last year, Birstall were determined to keep it—and delivered a strong team performance to do just that.

Wins came from Stu Marriott, Stu Wheeler, Martin Weaver, Adam Dalby, Jon Bifield and Joe Marvell, with Luke Marvell and Dan Frith. One memorable moment came on the 18th green, where captain Adam Dalby holed a 35-foot putt to clinch his match and secure a resounding 6-2 win!

The course was in excellent condition, with pin positions specially selected for the occasion adding to the challenge. The match was played in great spirit, and our thanks go to Rothley Park for another enjoyable contest.

A big thank you to the greenkeeping team for their hard work, the catering staff for looking after both teams after the match, and everyone who helped make the day a success.

It’s proving to be a memorable season for Birstall, with scratch league promotion secured and the Chapman Cup retained—and there’s still more to look forward to! Next Sunday, 4th October, Birstall face The Luffenham Heath Golf Club in the County Men’s Foursomes Final at Rothley Park, teeing off at 11.10am. Supporters would be very welcome as the team bid to add another trophy to the season’s successes.

⛳️Men’s 1st Team Update⛳️
The Men’s 1st Team enjoyed their end-of-season shootout on Friday 18th September—a nine-hole fun knockout competition with the highest score eliminated on each hole. There was plenty of banter and friendly barracking throughout, and our thanks go to Vice-Captain Jag Paddam for joining us.

Congratulations to Stu Wheeler, who sealed victory with a birdie on the 9th, with Jon Bifield finishing a close runner-up!

🏆Chapman Cup – Sunday 27th September🏆
Next up, Birstall host Rothley Park in the Chapman Cup, with tee-off at 12 noon.
This annual rivalry dates back to 1938. Having regained the trophy last year, we’re determined to keep it at Birstall! It promises to be a keenly contested match, and supporters would be very welcome to come along and cheer on the team.

🏆County Men’s Foursomes Final – Sunday 4th October🏆
Birstall will take on Luffenham Heath in the County Men’s Foursomes Final at Rothley Park, with tee-off at 11.10am.

Representing Birstall will be:
Joe Marvell & Stu Wheeler
Adam Dalby & Dan Frith

The team will be bidding to bring the trophy home for the first time since 2006. It’s a big occasion for the club, and your support would mean a great deal to the players.

We’d love to see plenty of Birstall supporters at both matches!

Birstall Golf Club Seniors Win the Olds Trophy! 😊🏆

A little late to celebrate, but on Wednesday 9th September, Birstall Seniors beat local rivals Rothley GC in the annual battle for the Olds Trophy. A great win for Captain Steve Merrall and the seniors team.
