In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer

KARATE CLASSES CAN RE-START IN THE CITY OF LEICESTER FROM TUESDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER.

Re-opening Time Table Available.

Although the rest of the UK has been able to re-start classes, Tuesday 08 September is the first day that Leicester has been allowed to re-open classes in the City and allow students from the City to attend classes elsewhere.

Most of our classes outside the City have just re-opened or have dates to re-open, but have had very limited numbers, due to the restrictions that were imposed on the City and for a time, some surrounding areas, including Thurmaston.

If your regular class remains closed, you are welcome to train at an alternative venue until it re-opens, but please let us know, as some popular classes will be operating a pre-booking system, to ensure we adhere to Government Regulations on Social Distancing, which means all classes will have a maximum number of students allowed to attend and we can not exceed this limit.

Although it has been a very challenging 6 months for us in Leicester, we are very excited to be re-opening and look forward to seeing you in the dojo very soon!

Which would you prefer?

£6.50 per week for as many classes as you can attend, so if you attend 1, 2 or 7 classes a week it is still only £6.50
or
£7.00 cash, per class for a single class, so if you attend 2 seperate classes it would be £14.00 (or £10.50 for a double class) or if you did manage 7 classes it would be £49.00

Family discounts also apply, but it is strictly immediate family only, so Mum, Dad, Son, Daughter, Brother or Sister ONLY.

If you are interested, who wouldn't be, please message me or see me at class for the application form and to organise your first month's payment, or click on the link below.

Sign up before 12pm on the 16th December 2018 and your training fees will NEVER be increased. Subject to terms and conditions.
