The reality of winter training with limited lighting is a genuine challenge. The small lit area that we can train in soon becomes a wet muddy bog forcing us to look for alternative venues to train 😭.

As the nights draw in, the amount of usable space we have becomes smaller and smaller. Yet our teams are growing, more people want to play rugby, and we want to be able to give everyone a safe, well-lit space to train all year round.

That’s exactly why our BUY A BULB – LIGHT THE FUTURE campaign is so important. 💡💚🖤

Permanent floodlights would be a complete game-changer for Sileby Town RFC — giving our existing teams more space, helping us welcome new players, supporting the continued growth of women’s rugby and helping us work towards creating more opportunities for girls and the wider community.

🚨 **MATCH CANCELLED | PLAYER SAFETY FIRST** 🚨

Unfortunately, this Sunday’s match has been cancelled due to the current pitch conditions.

With the recent lack of rain, the ground is hard and dry, and whilst we’re desperate to get back out there and compete, player safety has to come first. 🏉

Hard pitches can present just as much of an injury risk as frozen or waterlogged surfaces, and we simply don’t want to put our players at unnecessary risk.

We’re as keen as anyone to get the season underway 💚🖤 — but we want to do it safely and sustainably, with our players able to enjoy their rugby without avoidable injuries.

Thanks for your understanding, and fingers crossed for some much-needed rain and better conditions soon! 🌧️🤞

💡 THIS IS WHY WE NEED FLOODLIGHTS 💡

RED = what we can currently use. 🔴
WHITE = what we could use with permanent floodlights. ⚪

With now over 100 members and growing, this small red area is what we're faced with when the dark winter evenings arrive.

Imagine trying to safely deliver quality training to multiple teams in that space.

Permanent floodlights would completely change that. They would allow us to spread out across our available pitches, provide better-quality training and give our growing membership the space they need to train to their full potential.

And keeping people training through winter isn't just about rugby. It's about keeping people physically active, supporting mental wellbeing, maintaining friendships and giving people somewhere to belong during the darker months.

We've worked incredibly hard to grow our club. Now we need our facilities to grow with us.
