Few new guys around these parts x

Why do we subject ourselves to tomfoolery?

For those who hate big gyms

For those that want a space that feels like an extension to their home

For those that who don’t fit in “traditional gyms”

For those who want exercise to be enjoyable not a punishment

For those who need a hour to switch off from the day

For those who need structure and accountability not more motivational quotes

For those who want a community that’s small enough to actually know your name.

We built Athletica for you!

Ever walked past a gym and thought “nah not for me”?

You’ll feel right at home here

Ps. By few we mean maybe 2/3 and by parts we mean our instagram btw x

Another one ☝️

Welcome to the gang!

You have have already seen her but we’d like to properly introduce Laura to team Athletica

What made you want to be a personal trainer?

Wanting others to experience the same feeling I did when I got into weight training. It made me feel stronger, more confident and capable, while giving me more drive, self-respect and a greater appreciation for my body.

Describe your role at Athletica in 5 words
Strong, empowering, sustainable & supportive.

Best thing about being a personal trainer so far?

Seeing the positive impact it has on all areas of my clients’ lives, and knowing that just one hour of their day spent with me can have a lasting impact on the other 23.

Worst thing about being a personal trainer?

The look you get when you tell a client they’re doing Bulgarian split squats.

You can now book in with Laura directly through the link in her bio

Big week boxed off with the small group gang

A week of testing (testing how hot it would need to be to cancel😂) squats and bench press with PB bells being rang every session

*proceeds to order an actual bell*

Training feeling like it’s lacking focus?
Fed up of telling yourself tomorrow will be the day you go back to the gym?

Became a Dad last July and like most parents, his own health took a back seat.

Six weeks ago Matthew decided to do something about it!

Anddddd

Clothes fitting better, belt a notch tighter and starting to feel like himself again

All from two session per week and a big old serving of consistency.

Might be one of our favourite reviews yet (head to slide 4)

Can you draw a Picasso penguin?

This has nothing and everything to do with personal training.

At most gyms, personal training looks the same. You turn up, get given a programme that was made up as you walked in, get pushed too hard, leave a bit sweaty and get a high five on the way out. Whether you actually get anything out of it? Who knows.

Here it looks a little different.
Yes you’ll work hard. You’ll get pushed when you need to be pushed. But we’ll also ask you to do completely pointless things like draw a penguin mid-session, just because.

Because that’s what most people miss about finding the right place to train. (Not the drawing😂).
But having somewhere you can have a laugh and not have fitness be too serious.
The type of people we train anyway…

Your results don’t always come from the hardest session. They come from turning up consistently to somewhere you actually want to be, full of people who know you, and coaches who take your progress seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

Some of the penguins were awful, by the way. 🐧
If that sounds like your kind of place, drop us a DM or your best Pengiun picture

The real reason you’re tired and aching all the time

(And how strength training fixes it)

If you’re someone with a busy job, kids, and a social calendar that never seems to stop we can be pretty sure you’re always tired.

But here’s the truth no one tells you:

You don’t need more rest; you need the right kind of exercise

One of our clients said it best this week:

“Since starting training in a gym, I have so much more energy. I never used to be able to carry my kids in the sling, and my back hurts way less.”

When your days are non-stop, your workouts shouldn’t drain the life out of you they should recharge you.

That’s what strength training does.

It helps your body handle stress better.
It boosts your energy.
And it gives you the strength to deal with the demands of your life.

Telling you that to get more energy, you need to put more energy into your day is a hard sell so let us make you an offer.

Clients of ours tell us within the first few weeks of training they notice they:
Sleep better
Have more energy
And start to lose the niggling injuries

👉 Give us 21 days to prove it to you.

What Personal Training actually looks like...

It’s not shouting.
It’s not 1000 reps of burpees to make you feel tired.
It’s not being judged for how fit (or not) you are.

This is what Personal Training is at Athletica:

A coach who listens.
A coach who can adapt to the person who walks in that day.
A programme that starts where you are right now.
A private studio that feels like its yours.

It’s asking “how’s your body feeling today?” and adapting things to still keep you moving forward even when you think you can’t

It’s adapting when your back is playing up again, but you still want to train.

It’s coaching that is solely focused on you.

Most people don’t need to “train harder.”
They need someone who’s going to keep them turning up on days where they normally wouldn’t on their own.

In a world full of matching gym outfits, too many mirrors and tripods. We are proud to be a little different.

(If you’ve ever felt like you “aren’t a gym person”… we were made for you.)

Most people think they need to train 7 days a week and follow a strict diet plan to see any kind of result.

What if we told you that training twice per week could double your strength, give you better sleep and help you manage stress with ease?

Not a sales pitch. That's what happened to Jemma after training for a few months.
Twice per week.

No mad diets, no complete overhaul of your day, just consistently showing up and training in a way that suits you.

Now here's the sales pitch...

Training hard doesn't mean what you think it is.

We talk a lot about being a welcoming place to train.
somewhere you feel comfortable walking into for the first time.
But once you're here, we actually want you to train hard.
Why?
Because that's what actually gets you results.

The difference is that training hard here isn't:

❌ Leaving so sore you can't move for a week
❌ Pushing to failure on every set
❌ Being put through a session designed to make you suffer for no reason.

Training hard here means:

✅ Leaving knowing you pushed as hard as you could that day.
✅ Progressive sessions that match you.
✅ Hard for you, not us.

If you want a place that's going to throw together some random s**t to "Impress you" or make you feel like you've worked hard
we aren't it!
