How slow do you run your easy days?
If you’ve just found out you’ve got a place in the London Marathon… firstly, congratulations! 🎉
Most people think marathon training starts 16 weeks before race day, but the reality is, the best marathon training starts now.
These next few months are your chance to build a strong aerobic base, gradually increase your mileage, improve your running economy, and make your body more resilient. It means when your marathon block begins, you’re fit enough to handle the training instead of just surviving it.
Too many runners wait until January, ramp their mileage up too quickly, and end up injured, exhausted, or struggling to hit their goal.
Start building your foundations now, and you’ll give yourself the best chance of running your strongest marathon next spring.
If you’re not sure where to start, send us a message and we’ll help you build a plan that’s right for you.
Look slow run fast…

🌟 Athlete Spotlight – Sue Flynn 🌟
This week we’re shining the spotlight on the incredible Sue Flynn, who has been part of PW Performance Coaching for the past five years.
Sue is the definition of consistency. She turns up, trusts the process, and puts in the work week after week. Her dedication has led to some truly outstanding improvements across every distance.
🏅 PB Progress:
• Marathon: 4:56:00 ➡️ 4:01:36
• Half Marathon: 2:09:42 ➡️ 1:49:38
• 10K: 59:15 ➡️ 48:55
• 5K: 28:36 ➡️ 23:30
Just two weeks after joining PW Performance Training in September 2021, Sue knocked over 20 minutes off her marathon best at the London Marathon, running 4:35:26. Since then, she’s continued to chip away at every distance, proving that patience, consistency and smart training really do pay off.
Sue’s journey is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through commitment, resilience and trusting the coaching process. We couldn’t be prouder of everything she’s accomplished, and we’re excited to see what comes next.
Congratulations, Sue – your hard work continues to inspire us all! 👏🏃♀️💙
