Open Game Night is on tonight from 18:00 until late, and for just £10 you've got full access to everything the Tavern has to offer.

Whether you're looking to sling some spells in Magic: The Gathering, conquer a few board games, dive into one of our RPG resources, or simply relax with good people and good company, there's a seat waiting for you.

No pressure. No tournaments you have to join. Just an evening of games, laughs, and seeing what ends up on the table.

I'm in an absolutely cracking mood today, so if you've been thinking about popping down, tonight feels like a pretty good night to do it.

🍦 Cold drinks are in the fridge, the Calipos and Volcanix are ready if you need to cool off, and the coffee machine is on standby for anyone who somehow still wants a hot drink in this weather.

Of course you bloody do.

Sometimes Commander is about elegant combos, sometimes it's about intricate politics... and sometimes it's about piloting an 8/8 mechanical monstrosity that punches dragons in the face.

This week's Commander Spotlight is Shorikai, Genesis Engine! (Yes I know I've done this one before)

Shorikai is one of the smoothest value engines ever printed. For just a single mana and a tap, you're drawing cards, filtering your hand and building an army of Pilots ready to crew an ever-growing fleet of Vehicles.

The weather might be cooling down into the low 20s, but this old mill has a habit of holding onto the heat! Please make sure your young adventurers bring a bottle of water and stay hydrated throughout the afternoon.

Don't worry if they forget. We've got plenty of cold drinks, ice lollies, and other refreshments available in the Tavern to help keep everyone cool while they're busy saving the world.

👼 COMMANDER SPOTLIGHT – ATRAXA, GRAND UNIFIER 👼

Do you play Atraxa? Have your friends mysteriously stopped inviting you to Commander nights? Do people sigh the moment you reveal your commander? Have you ever heard the phrase "Not Atraxa again..." before the game has even started?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then congratulations. You're one of the reasons for today's Commander Spotlight.

Atraxa, Grand Unifier has earned her reputation for a reason. Flying, vigilance, deathtouch and lifelink make her an absolute nightmare to deal with, and when she enters the battlefield she practically refills your hand by digging through the top ten cards of your library.

She's big, she's efficient, and she's one of those commanders that can slot into an incredible range of strategies. Blink her. Reanimate her. Ramp into her. However you get her onto the battlefield, she's going to generate absurd value and demand an answer immediately.

Is she disgusting? Absolutely.

Is she ridiculously fun to pilot? Also absolutely.

So whether you're the brave soul sleeving up Atraxa, or the poor unfortunate opponent trying to stop her, Commander Night is the perfect place to see what happens when everyone's favourite Phyrexian angel hits the table.
