πŸ”₯ What a phenomenal weekend of racing for Leigh Harriers! πŸ”₯

Our athletes were competing across the UK and Europe, taking on some incredibly tough events in **extreme heat**, making every mile that little bit harder.

πŸƒπŸš΄πŸƒπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί **Dave and Jacques** proudly represented Great Britain at the **European Standard Duathlon Championships** in Banyoles, Spain, racing against some of Europe's best athletes in soaring temperatures.

πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ **Dom, Eddie, Gary, Andy and Katie** all took on the challenging **IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea**, battling the heat as they swam, biked and ran their way to the finish line.

A special mention goes to **Katie**, who produced an extraordinary performance to finish **2nd in her age group** despite crashing during the race and **fracturing her collarbone**. To not only finish an Ironman 70.3 with that injury, but also stand on the podium, is a remarkable display of courage, resilience and determination.

πŸƒ **Brian and Debbie** showed incredible endurance by completing the **Race to the Stones 50K Ultra**, conquering 50 kilometres in conditions that tested everyone on the course.

πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ And finally, **Adam** took on the **Ripon Sprint Triathlon**, where he somehow found himself going *toe to toe* with Olympic legend **Alistair Brownlee**... well, at least for the photo! We're not saying it was a close race, but the picture definitely tells a different story! πŸ˜‚

πŸƒAnd midweek we had a strong team out for the CLGP race in Radcliffe with the A and B teams finishing 1st and 3rd! Well done to Chris, Elliot, Dave B, Henry, Rob and Lucas!

Massive congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend. Whether representing your country, taking on an Ironman, conquering an ultra, or rubbing shoulders with Olympic champions, you've all done yourselves and Leigh Harriers proud. Enjoy a well-earned recovery – you've certainly earned it! πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ‘

ESAA Championships 2026

We had lots of fantastic performances at the English Schools Championships this weekend.

Alani Dumbuya retained her title with yet another PB !

For Matthew Birch it was a first at this championships and with a new weight in the hammer throw. He placed 8th overall as a 1st year in the age category.

Oscar Davies competed in the 1500m, returning from a nasty stress fracture suffered last year. He was diligent in his rehab of the injury and bounced back with a huge improvement on his time from last season.

Unfortunately Sidney Shorrock had a series of no throws in the discus, but distances were huge and there is plenty more to come from her.

Over the weekend we had two athletes at the England Athletics U20 and Senior Track and Field Championship 2026

Alani Dumbuya won the under 20 shot put title for the 3rd time in a row. But was disappointed to be throwing short of her recent personal bests, which seem to be coming almost every meeting.

George Lowe placed 4th in the senior javelin, only 65cm off of the bronze medal position.
