Where is time going?!

This week we dropped our son off at university for his second year. Our daughter has started her GCSEs. How did that happen so quickly?!

It’s made me think about how quickly life moves and how easy it is to keep putting things off.

The conversation you know you need to have, decision you keep thinking about or change you know you need to make.

How long are you going to wait?

You don’t need to have all the answers, you just need to decide that something needs to change and take the first step.

Interesting few days.

I’ve been focusing on my own development, learning, listening and taking the time to reflect.
Lots of conversations, different thinking take aways.

It’s easy when you’re supporting other people to forget that your own development matters too.
Taking time to step back, challenge your own thinking and look at what you want to develop next is just as important.

I’ve got lots to reflect on and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

Some of the best conversations I’ve had recently happened somewhere completely unexpected, not planned.

This weekend I went to a friend’s end-of-summer get-together. There were people I knew and people I’d never met before.

The conversations that stood out were with two women I’d only just met. Both conversations were unexpected, incredibly interesting and had the potential to really help them move forward.

Some of the best conversations happen when you’re not expecting them. Not in a meeting, whilst networking or in a coaching session.
Just two people talking, sharing experiences and seeing things from a different perspective.

You never know what one conversation might unlock. Stay curious. Keep talking. You never know where a conversation might lead. ❤️

What does it feel like working with me?

One of the things I love most about running my own business is the flexibility in my day.

This morning I was out meeting people, having great conversations and connecting.

Then I spent time with Dad and fed him lunch. Later, I’m heading out to another event.

I’m able to do this because I made time to stop and think about what I really wanted. From the outside, everything looked perfect. Inside, I knew there was more.

More freedom, variety, choice and the opportunity to fulfil my purpose.
I see this in my clients too. They’re Successful, Capable, Respected. From the outside, everything looks fine. Yet something inside is telling them there has to be more.

My role isn't to tell them what that "more" should be. It’s to give them the space to stop, think, challenge what they’ve always assumed and work out what they really want.

Sometimes the biggest change starts with giving yourself permission to ask: “What do I want my life and career to look like now?”

That’s where change begins.

Wow. What an incredible woman.
Her life, courage, curiosity and her determination to make a difference.

What really resonated was her ability to keep going; stay curious, keep learning and keep believing that one person can make a difference.

91 years of wisdom. One extraordinary life.

If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend it.

Are you a Female Director working in the public sector, making decisions everyone else thinks are easy?

The ones that look straightforward on paper. Cut this. Change that. Say no. Have the conversation. Make the decision.

Everyone has an opinion. You’re the one who has to live with the consequences.

You’re balancing confidentiality, people, politics, priorities, budgets, expectations and the bigger picture; often while knowing there isn't a perfect answer.

The hardest part isn't making the decision. It’s trusting yourself once you’ve made it.

29 years married today. ❤️
