🎙️🎯 WHAT A MORNING FOR LEIGHTON BUZZARD BOWLS CLUB! 🎯🎙️
A huge well done to Carlene and Thomas, who did an absolutely fantastic job this afternoon on 3 Counties Radio, talking about the campaign to get bowls more widely recognised and included within GCSE and A Level sports qualifications.
There was a really important message behind the interview — young people should have choice when it comes to the sports they can study. Not every young person wants to play football, rugby or the traditional mainstream sports, and bowls has so much to offer in terms of skill, strategy, concentration, accuracy, fitness and competition.
Thomas spoke brilliantly about his own experience of finding bowls, the confidence it has given him and how much he has achieved in a relatively short time. 💙
Carlene has been working tirelessly behind the scenes, contacting MPs, Ministers, the Department for Education, exam boards and bowls organisations to make sure this issue is heard.
And today, they took that message to the airwaves! 📻👏
We are incredibly proud to have Thomas representing our club and to have Carlene championing not just bowls, but young people having the opportunity to find the sport that is right for them.
The interview might be done, but the campaign continues…
