Going back to the basics in blissful conditions 🤩☀️

After completing both his PaddleUK Sea Kayak Award and Coastal Sea Kayak Award with us in March and October 2025, Mark chose to book two days of private coaching with us in back in May this year

Whilst now able to paddle confidently in dynamic conditions, Mark wanted to go back to the beginning and develop a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of sea kayak handling

I think sometimes in this sport, it can be easy for us to focus on chasing more challenging conditions that we forget that continual development of the basics (such as edging and forward paddling) will also have a dramatic effect on our confidence and abilities in rough water...

Stunning conditions for a couple of days private coaching with Amy back in June ☀️🤩

Simon, Rachel, and Tallis came to us with the hopes of expanding their trip planning, safety, and core skills so that they are better equipped for independent paddling from their home in Scotland.

Amy spent some time in the classroom teaching them about the weather and tides, which they found to be far more useful (and fun!) than anticipated 📝🧭

The time they spent on the water was focused on refining their skills and developing a greater understanding of how to work safely together as a team out on the water 👊

A beautiful paddle around Ramsey Island and Porthclais with Ian and Ben last weekend ☀️🤩🌊

We had members of the Edge Progressive Club based in West London come visit us for a club weekend away. With the only real goal being to see some of the sights of Pembrokeshire, conditions allowed us to explore the coast around Porthclais on the first day with a light swell, adding some fun challenge around the rocks.

Above average spring tides and calm conditions gave us some fun and exciting tide races to negotiate on an otherwise relaxed paddle circumnavigating Ramsey Island on day two 😎

🎉🎊 Congratulations to Karl and E for both achieving (and exceeding!) the PaddleUK Sea Kayak Award!! 🎉🙌

Joining Chris and Eric on our moderate water course earlier this month, Karl and E came to us with plenty of kayaking hours and experience in a wide range of conditions...

However, they had never had formal coaching of any kind! This resulted in a steep learning curve that they definitely took in their stride. Confident in bumpy conditions, we predominantly worked on developing their fundamental skills and rescue and incident management.

🎉🎊 Congratulations to Eric and Chris for both achieving the PaddleUK Coastal Sea Kayak Award this week!! 🎉🙌

We had a fantastic three day course in beautiful sunshine and with a great mix of conditions 🌊☀️😁

On day 1, we headed out of Porthclais to shelter from the wind, warm up, and work on fundamentals.

On day 2, we intentionally sought out some more exciting conditions amongst the tide and rocks around Pwllgwaelod.

We finished up on day 3 with rescues and incident management on the coast around Porthgain.

Stunning conditions for our women's weekend with Amy last month! ☀️😁

Exploring out of Abercastle on day one and Porthclais on day two, it was a great mix of skills and challenges. We got amongst the rocks with those who wanted to push their comfort zone, while a much calmer day was found away from the rocks for those who wanted a more chilled time 🪨 🌊 🌞

Two years after his first course with us, Jeremy returned for a private trip exploring Dinas Head and Fishguard Bay with Ollie ☀️😁

Jeremy specifically wanted to spend the day wildlife spotting and getting to know the P&H Leo. The day offered some great conditions, with Ollie taking him to the top of Dinas Head for a little play in the swell and tidal flow (also spotting plenty of seals and Razorbills), then rock hopping around Fishguard Bay. Overall a great test of the P&H Leo's abilities!
