🏉 LEYLAND WARRIORS U9s 🏉
Another fantastic day of rugby for the Warriors, with two brilliant games against Langworthy and Haydock! 💪🔥
🏉 Game 1 – Langworthy
The Warriors started the game strongly in defence and, if anything, only got better as the match went on. The effort, communication and teamwork were fantastic, with everyone working hard for the player next to them.
We were putting pressure on Langworthy, making big tackles and showing just how much the defensive side of our game has developed over the last few weeks.
In attack, we worked really well as a team, moving the ball, supporting the runner and making good ground up the pitch.
There was also one particular Warrior who was absolutely unstoppable! 💨💥 Time and time again they powered through, making huge metres and causing all sorts of problems. Even their coach admitted he wouldn't have fancied trying to stop them! 😂
🏉 Game 2 – Haydock
Haydock came flying out of the blocks and looked to move the ball quickly, trying to get around the Warriors.
But the Warriors were ready for it! 👊
Everyone stuck to their positions, trusted the player next to them and worked together brilliantly to shut down the space. Time and time again we forced Haydock into mistakes, with another fantastic defensive display from the whole team.
Then came some brilliant rugby in attack.
We showed just how well we can move the ball through hands, with some excellent passing and support play leading to a couple of fantastic full-length team tries. 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏉
And when it came to getting over the line, the determination was something else! The try scorers showed incredible desire, refusing to give up and battling their way through to finish off some fantastic team moves. 💪🔥
⭐ The Last Two Weeks
Honestly, these past two weeks since the summer break have been some of the best rugby we have played as a team.
And it's not just the coaches who have noticed it — every parent has been saying the same thing. The improvement, effort and attitude from every single player has been brilliant to watch.
You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves for the things you are doing individually, but even more proud of how you are coming together as a team.
You're trusting each other, working for each other, communicating, supporting each other and, most importantly, enjoying your rugby. That's exactly what we want to see. ❤️🖤
👏 A Massive Welcome to Kirsty!
And talking about stepping up…
A massive shout-out to our new U9's Coach Kirsty! 👏👏
She has absolutely taken to coaching like a duck to water 🦆😂 and has already become a massive help at training and on the side of the pitch.
The players have taken to her brilliantly, and it's fantastic having another pair of eyes, another voice and another person who is just as passionate about helping the Warriors improve.
Thank you, Kirsty — we're delighted to have you on board! 💪🏉
Another brilliant couple of weeks, Warriors.
