Another fantastic weekend for the lads, with Next Generation taking on Ace Lyon and Premier Sports across two games.

Plenty of goals, plenty of football and, more importantly, plenty of signs that the lads are really starting to take everything we’re working on into their games. 👏

🏆 Man of the Match — Myles

A huge shout-out to Myles this week. His development over the last few weeks has been brilliant to watch. He’s playing with real determination, bringing other players into the game and creating opportunities for his teammates with some excellent assists.

What’s particularly pleasing is the variety in his play — moving from taking players on and dribbling, to recognising when to pass early, and also taking those early opportunities to get shots away.

An all-round outstanding performance across the two games. 👏

And finally, a massive well done to Alfie! ❤️

After suffering a broken leg on his debut last year at U8 level, Alfie has worked incredibly hard to get back playing — and this weekend he scored his first goal since returning. ⚽️

What a moment. 👏👏

The lads are listening, learning and putting things into practice every week. The development is really starting to show.

⚽️ MJPL Fixture 2 | Next Generation Lichfield U9s

Next Generation Lichfield v Sky Blues in the Community

Another really positive performance from the lads in their second MJPL fixture.

⚽️ Reggie – 3 goals
⚽️ Chester – 1 goal

🏆 Man of the Match – Reggie

There was some outstanding football on show today, particularly in the way the lads played out from the back. The passing was excellent, and the work rate off the ball was just as impressive.

We created plenty of opportunities throughout the game, hitting the post and crossbar on numerous occasions and having a couple of really good one-on-one opportunities.

At the other end, Ozzie made some fantastic saves when called upon. 🧤

The pressure and pressing from the lads also forced the opposition into playing a lot of long balls, which was a great example of how our work without the ball can influence the way the opposition play.

The one area we know we need to improve is concentration. A few moments of switching off cost us goals, and against better opposition you get punished if you’re not switched on for the full 40 minutes.

That’s all part of the learning curve, though. Plenty to work on, but lots of positives to take from another competitive MJPL game.

Great weekend for Next Generation Lichfield U9s! ⚽️

Lots of football for the lads, with three matches across the weekend — goals, passing, pressing, shape and plenty of lessons along the way.

And then there was a little education in street football… questionable tackles, questionable management styles and plenty of character-building moments! 😂 - massive shout out to Myles, who continued to battle despite many stud marks.

But that’s all part of developing these talented lads. We don’t always get to play at Wembley… sometimes you have to learn your lessons on a freezing Tuesday night in Stoke! 🥶⚽️

Different environments, different challenges and different styles of football all help the boys grow — not just as players, but as a team.

The aim is to keep improving, keep learning and keep enjoying the game.

🔴⚽ MJPL DEBUT ⚽🔵

Our first MJPL fixture for the lads!

A really positive introduction to the league. We know there will be much tougher challenges ahead, but today was a great opportunity for the boys to experience the step up and put into practice what we’ve been working on.

The goals were shared across the team, which was fantastic to see, but our stand-out performer today was Ronnie — 4 goals and an assist to cap off a huge step forward in his performance. 👏🔥

One of the biggest positives was hearing comments from the opposition parents about the passing style of the team. That doesn’t happen by accident — it’s a result of the shape, movement and understanding that we continue to work on in training.

Plenty to improve, plenty to learn, but a brilliant first step into the MJPL.

Congratulations lads — enjoy today, then we go again Tuesday and Thursday. 💪⚽

A fantastic start for Next Generation Hawks in their first game together! 👏⚽

The attitude, work rate and teamwork from every single player were outstanding from the first whistle to the last. It was brilliant to see the lads playing the way we want to, with some excellent passages of play, building from the goalkeeper through the defence and into attack. The passing was superb, and it was great to see it rewarded with some fantastic team goals.

The league will bring plenty of physical challenges this season, but the lads matched everything that was thrown at them and never took a step backwards.

It’s only the beginning, but this was a fantastic start.

The boys should be proud of themselves, and there’s no doubt there’s plenty more to come from this talented group.
