Where to start?

After a surprise resignation early into an awful start to the 2018/19 season, the club was looking likely to spiral towards extinction.

Nige threw his hat into the ring, knowing only a handful of the lads, and guided us to the end of the year. From this point we’ve gone from strength to strength.

Completely reinventing the side on multiple occasions and getting a stable footing to allow us to grow to two sides again.

We’ve had some brilliant times, unbelievable highs and pushed through all the lows. And that’s all down to Nige.

A finalist in the last 4 seasons in every trophy the club has been in, and culminating in a cup win many thought was beyond us. No roped in Saturday players, just mates.

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it’s much more serious than that.”

Gaffer, thank you for everything.

It wasn’t quite to be as United fell 4-1 to a very good Marlborough Rovers side yesterday at St George’s Park.

Callum Wildes opened the scoring as Whittington came flying out the blocks, before two smart finishes left them a goal down at Half Time.

A Rovers goal deflected in gave United a mountain to climb and a breakaway 4th put the game out of reach.

You think of football in Whittington over the last 25 years and you think of Steve Kirk. He coached our past players, current players and their children through Whittington FC & the soccer school.

If you do one thing today, be kind and make someone laugh. Leave whoever you meet happier than they were before - for Steve.

We are incredibly sad to learn of the passing of one of the Soccer Centre family. Our former head coach, Steve Kirk.

Steve was a coach with the Soccer Centre from the late 1990s up until 2018 and helped shape thousands of children’s lives. He also had a big impact on our coaching team too.

He made football fun for all, all the time.

A person who was staple to the development to not only the Soccer Centre, but Whittington FC and the wider community too.

Steve will be truly missed by all and we send our best wishes to his family at the difficult time.

With this news we have taken the decision to cancel this weeks Saturday session to give a chance for us all to grieve this incredible loss.

Rest easy Steve ❤️

Defeat for the Res brings the winning run to an end at the hands of Netherseal St Peters in a scrappy affair.

Little difference, apart from the finishing, until the 3rd went in. The visitors saw it out comfortably from there, save a cracking finish for a consolation.
