ANNOUNCING THE ENGLISH SPORT KARATE COOPERATIVE
Dear Members and the wider Karate Community,
For many years, our clubs have operated, trained, and competed together. We have faced trials and tribulations, shared moments of celebration, and spent a large proportion of our time and lives together.
We have always done so with the same shared goals: creating opportunities for our students, supporting the growth of our clubs, and continuing to challenge ourselves. We have always humbly done this without a formal name, instead referring to ourselves simply as βthe family of clubsβ.
Students and clubs grow, and the world around us changes. We are committed to growing with the world, so today we are proud to announce and unveil our new collective name: the English Sport Karate Cooperative.
For existing member clubs from around the country, day-to-day operations will remain unchanged. Insurance and affiliations, competitions, and squad training sessions are entirely unaffected.
Today, instead, marks the formalisation and maturation of an organisation that has already been running successfully, and for the benefit of all its members, for more than fifteen years.
We have geared up to provide members with new perks, and to make the routes into our cooperative more transparent than ever before. I am sure you all share my excitement at the opportunities this brings for the future of our family and all our clubs.
The English Sport Karate Cooperative has a simple offer for its clubs, and any prospective clubs. We offer the structure you need, the support you want, and the freedom you deserve.
You can find more information on our website: www.sportkarate.co.uk
Yours sincerely,
Matthew Hyndman
President & Founder

Student Of the Year 2026
Allan Westwood
It could be no other at LSKC than the guy who brought back 8 World titles this calender year taking his tally to 15 World titles . He took on the role of national kumite coach for WKU to give back to the sport which has given him so much and never wavers in helping the national teams kids achieve there goals from whatever dojo there from .
At LSKC he's always there offering advice and tactics in kumite to all ages and sacrifices his own training sometimes to help others improve . Truely deserved winner of this award this year . Well done Allan π π
Students Student of the Year 2026
Ted Edge
This kid is unreal and deserves every bit of this award , chosen by his peers within LSKC he has this year committed so much to his martial arts training every day of the week atleast 2 hours as well as representing the dojo at tournament's in kumite , kata , points , traditional weapons and freestyle weapons bringing home many many golds including 3 WKU World titles .
Ted also assists with the younger students in the 5-6 classes and never complains or skives off his training .
He is a pleasure to teach and an asset to the dojo. Huge well done to Ted .ππ
Suzanne Hyndman " Best Female" Award 2026
Leigha Lancaster
A stand out student of LSKC bringing home the most golds in the calender year across kata , kumite , team kata , traditional weapons and freestyle weapons .
Leigha also assists the first hour classes at LSKC helping the younger students achieve their goals and grading belts.
She also is the go to coach at our tourneys for the younger members despite having her own categories to compete in it never stops her being there to help coach and is definitely a role model within LSKC .
I can guarantee my mom would be so proud to see you named the best female for all your hard work and commitment to the team this year. Well done Leigha .ππ
Please join me in congratulating all 3 winners of the LSKC Awards for 2026. πππ
