My first-ever 100-mile ultramarathon 🏃🏻‍♂️

Name: Rat Race Edinburgh to Glamis🏰
Distance: 101 miles🏃🏻‍♂️
Elevation: 2000m🏔
Race Position: 15th / 588th 👑

Wow, just wow! This was an amazing experience. In these 25 weeks, I trained through every type of weather this year, from snowy January ☃️to three back-to-back heatwaves ☀️, and even got to train a little bit in Japan, which was really cool.

A massive shout-out to everyone who supported me. I have never had support on this level before, and I'm really grateful, from well wishes to donations, and to my amazing fiancé for keeping me going.

Let's talk about the race itself:🏃🏻‍♂️
There were 3 massive issues, 2 of which were my nerves:

I could not keep my food down for the first 7-9 hours. 🤮

My heart rate was through the roof, like a lot, 160-170 when it was meant to be 130bpm. ❤️

The heat, losing around 17,600ml of water/salts. 💧

The only other issue I had was some of the terrain was stupid, which wasn't mentioned at all, going up and down cliffs over and over again, but that's my moan done.

The scenery was just stunning. I'm really thinking of going back just to enjoy the moment longer, as it was really, really beautiful. Did I go into a dark place? No, not really, though maybe you think I did at the 90-mile mark. But what happened was I had dead quads and hamstrings from earlier nutrition issues and the wrong shoes. No poles because I forgot them. But I'm really happy for my first 100 miles.

I forgot to mention three danceing badgers, which I think were real, as I swear I really think the gods are having a laugh now, but yeah, I say that at mile 85. 😂
