πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ A Fantastic Day at the City of Derry Triathlon

What a brilliant day of triathlon in the Maiden City as it welcomed the Europe Triathlon Cup and Triathlon Ireland Age Group athletes to the City of Derry Triathlon.

Despite challenging conditions leading to the Elite Men's race being modified to a duathlon format (Run-Bike-Run), the racing throughout the day was of the highest standard. Congratulations to all the elite athletes who put on an excellent spectacle, and to the age group field who delivered outstanding racing.

A huge well done to our Triangle Triathlon Club (TTC) members who represented their Club across the different events throughout the day:

πŸ₯‡ Anne P - 1st Place Age Group
πŸ₯‰ Kevin - 3rd Place Age Group

Congratulations also to Graeme, Kyle, Aimee, Martin K, Peter, Ivor, Kieran C, James D, James H, Sam L, Sam M, Mairead and Cathal who competed in the National Series Sprint Race, showcasing the strength and depth of our Club.

Special congratulations to Derek for securing an Age Group victory in the Aquabike event.

A particularly special mention goes to Eimear, who guided Judith in the Para race, demonstrating the inclusive and supportive spirit that makes triathlon such a fantastic sport.

It was also a long but rewarding day for Thomas and Anne, who balanced dual roles throughout the event. Starting the day officiating the Triathlon Ireland Age Group races before transitioning into Europe Triathlon officiating duties for the elite European Cup events, it was a privilege to play a small but critical part in delivering such a prestigious international race to the City.

A huge thank you to the race organisers, volunteers, officials, sponsors and supporters who made the event possible. Events like this showcase not only elite international competition but also the incredible local triathlon community that continues to grow and thrive.

πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ National Series Standard Distance | Top of the Mournes

On what was undoubtedly the toughest Standard Distance course on the Irish National Series fixture list, and on the wettest day of the summer, five brave TTC members took on the challenge and proudly represented the Club at the Top of the Mourns race hosted by Newry Triathlon Club

Congratulations to Kevin, Martyn, and Tom on completing their debut Standard Distance races wearing the famous red and black. A fantastic achievement and hopefully the first of many more!

Pulling out after the swim, it wasn't your day, Laurence, but that's sport. Keep the head up, there are plenty more opportunities ahead to come. πŸ’ͺ

A special mention to Club Chair Thomas, who was delighted to secure an Age Group win to round off his National Series season in style, waiting the final standings in a number of weeks time. πŸ†

Now it's time to look ahead, with the City of Derry National Series race and European racing action on the horizon next weekend.

Well done to all our athletes for battling the elements and showing true TTC spirit. β€οΈπŸ–€

What a day of tracker watching for the TTC family! From the fast and flat roads of IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg to the iconic full-distance challenge of IRONMAN Copenhagen, our athletes delivered performances to remember.

πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ Huge congratulations to our four TTC finishers!
πŸ”₯ Sam Moore took on IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg in his 70.3 debut and only his second triathlon as a TTC member, crossing the line in an impressive 6:00:33. A fantastic achievement and a brilliant platform to build from.
πŸ’ͺ Sam Linton made his full IRONMAN debut one to remember in Copenhagen. With a superb 3:25 marathon, Sam stopped the clock at 10:59:00, sneaking under the magical 11-hour barrier by exactly one minute. An outstanding first crack at the distance!

πŸ‘ Hannah Janes showed incredible determination to finish IRONMAN Copenhagen in 12:59:57. Not only did Hannah become an IRONMAN, but she ducked under the 13-hour mark by just three seconds. Proof that every second counts over 140.6 miles!

πŸ… Kieran Doherty, our seasoned IRONMAN veteran, once again demonstrated the grit and resilience that define the sport, completing Copenhagen in 13:51:24 and adding yet another IRONMAN finish to an already impressive list of achievements.

Whether it was a first 70.3, a debut full distance, a nail-biting battle against the clock, or another chapter in a long IRONMAN journey, every performance was something special.

πŸ‘ Congratulations from everyone at TTC. We've loved spending the day glued to the tracker following your progress.

🍻 Now it's time to enjoy those well-earned rehydrations, relive the stories from the course, and wear those finisher medals with pride.

Podiums and Points in Westport! πŸ†

Huge congratulations to Anne and Thomas on outstanding performances at today's Westport Triathlon.

πŸ₯‡ Anne conquered the Super Sprint course with a 400m swim, 20km bike and 5km run, finishing 1st in her age category.

πŸ₯‰ Thomas took on the National Standard Distance with a 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run, earning 3rd place in his age group.

From the sheltered waters of Westport Quay Bay, to the spectacular bike route around the foot of Croagh Patrick, and the run along the redeveloped Great Western Greenway, both athletes delivered exceptional performances on one of Ireland's most scenic triathlon courses.

Podiums secured. NS and Club Points earned. πŸ’ͺπŸ…

Land of Legends lived up to its name! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸŒŠπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
Club member, Peter, was the sole representative at today’s standard distance race in Co . Louth hosted by Setanta Tri club

A calm, warm swim to start the day. The bike course was a different story... featuring a 25-minute climb called "The Old Woman's Grave." At one point, Peter claimed β€œI genuinely thought I was about to join her! β€œ πŸ˜…

All this followed by a beautiful flat out-and-back run along the seafront with stunning scenery throughout.

Fantastic organisation, a lovely medal and towel at the finish, and a well-earned chicken curry to top it all off.

Now Peter truly understands what LOL stands for: Land Of Legends!
