In 2014, André Schurrle won the World Cup with Germany scoring 3 goals, and assisting the winning goal in the final 🏆🇩🇪

Just 9 years later, he has retired from football at 29 years-old. Since then he found a new direction in his life; the 𝗪𝗶𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱, one of the most difficult endurance challenges in the world.

He climbed up the Sniezka Mountains, the highest point in the Czech Republic (1630m above sea level), with no T-shirt and just shorts on. 😳❄️

🗣️ Schürrle: "The last minutes I couldn't feel anything and I had to find something deep inside me to keep going. An experience I will never forget! -19 degrees, 100 km/h wind in our faces, heavy snow and rain. What I learned... my body and I are stronger than I thought if I put my mind and soul into it I can do it all." 🥶

BeCollective Irish FA Volunteering Platform now LIVE.

With the announcement that the UEFA European Under 19’s Championship will be coming to Northern Ireland next summer from the 15-28 July we want you to be aware of the continued volunteer opportunities that will be open. There will be a range of roles throughout the tournament to fit all skills sets.

All opportunities will be placed on the Be Collective platform going forward. This will allow us the occasion to highlight opportunities for the tournament along with other opportunities in football and further afield. It will also allow us to record and recognise the hard work of all volunteers across all football. To ensure we have all your correct information we would be most grateful if you follow the link below and complete all enclosed fields and register as a Staff Volunteer. We appreciate that some staff may have registered in the past for Irish FA pages but to ensure we are collecting the correct information from volunteers’ previous registrations to the pages have had to be deleted and all opportunities and training will be on one page.

McDonalds Irish FA Grassroots Football Awards

Massive congratulations to all McDonalds Irish FA Grassroots Football Awards winners, and particularly to Glens United FC who are one of four regional winners of the Junior Club of the Year award. This award celebrates the work and commitment of football clubs and volunteers who give up their time and make a long-lasting impact on young people and communities across Northern Ireland.

The national awards ceremony will take place at the Belfast City Hall next month.
