NEW SEASON OPEN 2024 CHAMPIONSSSS 🏆
The Beasts turned up in their new kit and were buzzed for the new season of opens. Starting the day against Leicester Mustangs 2nds hot and coming away winners 14-4 to set the tone for the day.
Next up, Manchester Worker Bees, who started the better with the Beasts down at half time. However, with some fresh players and a good tactical chat, the Beasts took it to the next gear, not losing a single set in the 2nd half to finish 10-4 up.
After about a 2 hour long break, the Beasts would come up against possibly the hardest team in the group with Storm 1st. With a very close exchanging game, Storms well drill tactics caught the Beasts off guard, giving us our first and only loss of the day 11-7. A tough game, but the Beasts knew they still had a chance of getting out of their group in 2nd.
The final group game v Mosh Monsters didn't have an impact on standings due to other results going the Beasts way, so had a very enjoyable game with friends winning 8-6 to finish 2nd in the group!
Moving onto the knockouts, we came across Coventry Silverbacks, who came top of their group. A very tight game with some clutch dodgeball throughout, it came down to the wire, going into the final set level. The Beasts seemed like they wanted this more on this occasion and managed to take the final set to win 8-6.
With the knowledge of now playing for medals at stake, the Beasts were super confident going to the Semi finals v Nottingham Sheriffs, who halve the Beasts team plays for in League competition. With both teams knowing eachother well, and some super catching all round, it again came down to the final set level. But it seemed like nothing could stop the Beasts from getting to the final today, and again won the final set to win 8-6.
The Final.... vs the only team to have beaten them the whole day, London Storm 1st team. With guaranteed silver medals, the Beasts wanted revenge for the group stage. Now knowing how Storm would tactically play the game, the Beasts changed their tactics and this time caught Storm off guard, and with a controlled approach, went on to win 7-5 to be crowned this seasons first open champions!!! LETS GO!
