💜
Nobody really prepares you for this part…
In the early months, your baby doesn’t see you as separate from them yet.
Your voice, your smell, your heartbeat, your warmth… it all registers as one shared safe place.
Not in a clingy way. Not in a “they’re too attached” way.
In a biological, brain still wiring itself kind of way.
Their little brain is still figuring out where they end and the world begins.
So when you step away… even for a minute… it can feel bigger to them than it does to us.
It’s not manipulation.
It’s not “spoiling” them.
It’s their nervous system saying, “Where did my safety go?”
And every time you respond… every time you pick them up, comfort them, come back…
you’re literally helping build the part of their brain that will one day let them feel secure without you.
That independence everyone talks about?
It doesn’t come from distance.
It comes from being deeply, consistently, safely connected first.

🌍 World Breastfeeding in Public Day 2026 ✨
Breastfeeding in public isn’t just natural, it’s legally protected in the UK! 🤱💪
✔️ Under the Equality Act 2010, it’s s*x discrimination to treat someone unfavourably because they are breastfeeding. This means you can feed your baby in cafés, shops, parks, public transport - anywhere you’re allowed to be - without being asked to move, cover up, or stop.
✔️ In Scotland, the Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005 goes even further: it’s actually an offence to stop or prevent someone from feeding a child under two in a public place where they’re lawfully allowed.
Today we celebrate every mum, parent and caregiver who feeds their baby with confidence, and remind everyone that you’re protected by law when you do so in public. 💛
Let’s normalise it, support it, and spread the word! 📣

❤️
This is the life of a breastfeeding mama every night. Her eyes are closed, but her body and heart are wide awake. She’s not really sleeping, her whole body is still on duty.
Her arm goes numb.
Her back aches.
She barely moves, afraid to wake her baby.
She’s not resting, she’s listening.
Listening to every tiny breath, every soft sound, every little movement.
She wishes she could fall into a deep sleep, even just for a few hours.
But moms don’t truly sleep.
They just recharge with their eyes closed and their hearts fully awake.
To every breastfeeding mama
Your tired nights, your patience, your quiet sacrifices they matter.
You are seen.
You are appreciated.
You are giving your baby a love that lasts a lifetime.
And to every father and husband
See her. Support her.
Remind her she’s not alone.
Your help, your kindness, your love mean more than you know 🖤

I know some of y’all just LOVE your swaddles, this is not an attack. 🚨
Babies need their arms to feed well. I know their scratchy nails and little hands can be annoying and get in the way. But they use their hands and arms for balance and stability at the breast and to find the ni**le.
Wrapping up babies in blanket burritos dampens their feeding cues and can cause missed feedings.
This is ESPECIALLY worrisome in the early days and weeks when frequent milk removal is required to create your milk supply.
Your breasts are literally calibrating the milk volumes and when you miss feeding cues, it means LESS milk is going to be made.
Frequent/long swaddle sessions can cause babies to be underfed.
Babies should be gaining 1oz/day.
Babies who can’t use their startle reflexes as designed aren’t able to reduce their risk of SIDS.
They are literally designed to startle as a way to keep them alive.
Reconsider the swaddle.
Other ideas for ways ways to ensure your baby is safe and sleeping well can be found at Biologically Normal Infant & Toddler Sleep. 🖤🖤🖤
Let them use those arms! 😍
