🏌️ Golf Competition Round-Up
A busy week of golf, great scores and a hole-in-one!
It was another action-packed week at the club, with the Seniors Winter League getting underway, the Saturday Swing returning, and plenty of excellent scoring across our competitions. The week ended on a real high with a fantastic hole-in-one for Binns!
🏆 Seniors Winter League – Off and Running!
The ever-popular Seniors Winter League kicked off with an impressive 69 players taking part in the 14-hole event.
* Winner: Peter Zammit – 31 points
* Runners-up: Kenneth King, Ken Hirst and John Henry – 30 points each
A great turnout to get the winter season underway!
⛳ Ladies Tuesday Medal
Congratulations to our Ladies Tuesday Medal winner, Teresa Wells, who took the honours with a superb net 69.
* Winner: Teresa Wells – net 69
* Runner-up: Penny Gilbert – net 72
👏 Thursday Seniors – Pinehurst Greensomes
Thursday saw the Seniors take on the challenging Pinehurst Greensomes format, with some excellent scores on the day.
* Winners: Jim Garriock and Alex Brewer – net 64
* Runners-up: Bill Dark and Terry Regan – net 65
We also welcomed Melton Mowbray Golf Club for a match, with the home side securing an excellent 6.5–1.5 victory.
🏌️ Saturday Swing & Order of Merit
The Saturday Swing season is now underway, along with the Order of Merit, kindly sponsored by Creative Retail Design.
This week’s division winners were:
* Division 1: Ian Ridley – 40 points
* Division 2: Tom Buckberry – 35 points
The early Order of Merit leaders are Dean Blair in Division 1 and Tom Buckberry in Division 2.
There is plenty of golf still to come, so the standings will be well worth watching!
🐇 Rabbits & Hares Monthly Bash
Our Rabbits & Hares section held its monthly Bash competition, with Billy Campbell coming out on top.
* Winner: Billy Campbell – 40 Stableford points
* Runner-up: Tony Rollitt – 39 points
A great score from Billy, with Tony just one point behind.
🔄 Saturday 1pm Spin-Up
The second week of the Saturday 1pm Spin-Up, a nine-hole competition open to all, saw a Stableford format take centre stage.
Richard Trow took the honours, with Barry Skinner the runner up .
🏆 WH Brown Trophy Winter League
Sunday saw the WH Brown Trophy Winter League get underway, with an excellent winning score.
* Winners: Derek “Binns” Llewellyn and Malcolm Bowman – net 62
* Runners-up: Graham Leech and Mark Dewhurst – net 63
🚨 HOLE-IN-ONE ALERT!
The highlight of Sunday’s play was undoubtedly Derek “Binns” Llewellyn’s hole-in-one on the 11th!
An outstanding achievement and a fantastic way to round off the week’s competitions. Congratulations, Binns!
