South Kyme Golf Club

88 Golfers took part in new Club President Roger Mead’s Day today. Played in perfect conditions, together with a wonderful selection of refreshments at halfway provided by the Rabbits and Hares section.

Competition for minor places was tight with only count back separating 2nd and 3rd. McClellan, Dudman, Zammit and Dewhurst just beating out Mills, husband and wife Ian and Yvonne Prior and Rollit.

Winning comfortably was Jim Garriock, Mark Leavers, Archie Deacon and John Tilley.

Winners of the nearest the pin for men and women were Carl Appleyard and Julie Clark.

Congratulations to Imogen Hall on winning another World Amateur Golf Ranking tournament at Royal Norwich Golf Club

Imogen’s impressive summer season continues with a standout performance in the stroke play of the R&A Girls’ Amateur Championship. Qualifying for the Matchplay stage as Number 3 out of 144 players. By far the strongest Girls Tournament in Europe, Imogen shot 72 and 68 on the links of Craigielaw in Scotland. We wish her the best of luck in the matchplay.

Another sunny and warm Sunday was the backdrop to a great Club Captains Day at South Kyme. Hosts, Ladies Captain, Anne Barnham and Club Captain, Alan Wells generously welcomed upwards of 100 South Kyme golfers. At half way in the golf, in 29 degrees of heat, much needed food and drink was provided by Anne’s Ladies section.

As the golf finished, the Club opened its doors to the local South Kyme community, as well as the families and friends of those playing, as food, bucking cows and bouncy castles and much needed cold drinks were on offer for youngsters and those still young at heart.

Overall winner on the day was Heather Dopierala, winning on countback from Elaine Faithhorn and Paul Dudman. The award for best gross score of the day went to Neil Perchard. Prizes were also on offer for Ladies and Mens nearest the pins, Mens Divisions 1 and 2 golfers, and Ladies.

Huge thanks go to the generosity of both Captains who provided food and prizes. Also huge thanks goes to the members who raised over £1000 for Club charities on the day.

A special award was given to Club Secretary, John Stephenson, who after a remarkable 26 years of dedicated and unwavering volunteer service for the Club, has stepped aside.

What a day on the course!

Today, on our second hole at South Kyme Golf Club, Barry Skinner achieved every golfer’s dream… a Hole in One! 🏆👏

For Barry this is becoming quite routine..this is his 5th ace , all scored on either 2nd or 11th holes at SKGC 💥

Imogen qualified for the matchplay stages of the English Women’s Amateur Championship 👍

Despite awarding herself a 2 stroke penalty for teeing off ahead of the tee markers, Imogen still carded a round of +1 to win the 2026 Pleasington Putter by 2 shots. Good luck next week in the English Women’s Amateur!”

Members will be saddened to hear of the passing of past member J.I.M. (Mick) Bans, who has died at the age of 91.

Ex RAF, Mick was a very fine sportsman in everything he turned his hand to, as well as being one of the country’s best basketball coaches.

Mick’s name sits proudly on the JIM Bans Trophy competed for by the Seniors each year.
