What many people outside of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu don't realise is that a Blue Belt isn't simply a reward for turning up. It's a sign that someone has stayed the course long enough to move beyond being a complete beginner and they have built a solid foundation of skills, understanding, and mat awareness.
There isn't a set amount of time it takes. Some people get there quicker than others. What matters is consistent effort, a willingness to learn, and the ability to keep showing up even when progress feels slow.
The journey to Blue Belt is often where most people discover whether they truly enjoy Jiu-Jitsu. The excitement of the first few week’s fades, life gets busy, motivation comes and goes, yet they continue to train, learn, and improve. more people quit before Blue Belt than ever reach it. That's what makes the achievement special.
Congratulations to our newest Blue Belts. The promotion is recognition of the work you've put in so far, but it's also the beginning of the next stage of your journey.
Well deserved. 👏🥋

I would highly recommend everyone make the effort to attend, John Will is a fantastic Instructor 😀🤙
Date confirmed, all clubs all levels welcome.
Some people are belt focused, as if having a black belt makes you a good coach of more importantly a decent person.
It’s simply a piece of material that should represent your hard work.
Now this is said with complete respect and in my own strange mind.
If the belt was so important. This seminar would be sold out and we’d be turning people away.
A coral belt BJJ coach in lincoln is (correct me if I’m wrong please) a first, a bit like Ronaldo turning up to coach at the local five a side team
But , it won’t be sold out, there will be the function first crew, and maybe 2 others from another club
That’s how it’s always been, that’s how it will always be
Belts, trophies, fight record, championship, accolades you name them
No one really cares, you could win a fight in the UFC and the following week the phone ain’t ringing anymore with enquiries
You simply build and develop your own culture and those that jive arrive ,
Me? I’ll be travelling the uk for over a week visiting a dozen BJJ clubs from Milton Keynes, Coventry, up to Doncaster at Danny Mitchell s place, to Sheffield and Manchester at Factory BJJ
I love my yearly BJJ tour in the uk 🇬🇧 which I’ve now extended to Australia every September. I catch up with friends, see how other clubs do their thing and learn lots.
See you on the mats folks

You will get things wrong.
So does everyone else.
That’s how learning works.”
