⚽ Ruskington Parish Council has secured £25,000 to refurbish its Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), creating a new sand-based artificial surface for local football and community sport.

🏟️ The investment means local clubs can now train closer to home, particularly during the winter months, while income from the facility will help support future improvements to the site.

The project was made possible through Football Foundation funding and funding from North Kesteven District Council, with support from the local community helping shape the development.

What difference has the investment made, and what could be next for the facility?

One experience. Eight defibrillators. A lasting impact on football across Lincolnshire.

After witnessing a cardiac emergency while refereeing, David Bent decided to do something to help protect others.

Through tournaments and charity events, he has raised enough to provide eight defibrillators to fellow Lincolnshire referees, helping ensure potentially life-saving equipment is available pitchside.

David has now been recognised as a Lincolnshire Football Champion for going above and beyond his role to help make football safer. We recently visited David to hand deliver a luxury hamper from The British Hamper Company as a small token of our appreciation of his work.

His story also highlights the steps players, referees, clubs and volunteers can take to be better prepared, from having a free heart screening and taking free online medical training to having the right equipment available.

Thank you, David, for everything you’re doing to help protect the people who make football happen across Lincolnshire. 💚⚽

🚨 When a medical emergency happens on the football pitch, there may be no time to Google what to do.

Knowing how to recognise the signs of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and concussion, and what action to take, could make a crucial difference when it matters most.

England Football Learnings free Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion courses are available through England Football Learning, helping everyone involved in football build the knowledge and confidence to respond.

And if you’re a player or referee aged 18-35, you could also benefit from a free heart screening through Lincolnshire FA and Lincoln Private Hospital, an opportunity to be proactive about your heart health and check for potential concerns.

Don’t wait until you’re faced with an emergency to wish you knew what to do.
