Ferryboat FC 2 v 1 Metheringham 1st

Match abandoned due to serious injury after 86mins.
A game of two halves, Ferryboat having the best of the 1st half and Meg the better of the second.
We wish Drew Hilton all the best in his recovery ❤️🖤

HBW 2-0 U13

A local derby against a good HBW side on a chilly Sunday morning.
The last time we faced HBW they ran out convincing winners and following last week’s performance we needed to give everything today.
The first half was an even affair, HBW having more of the ball, but our set up meant bodies behind the ball made it difficult for them to break us down.
Half time 0-0.

The second half followed a similar pattern, but, HBW got the breakthrough when a goalmouth scramble was tapped home. Our heads didn’t drop and we stuck to the game plan. Unfortunately HBW scored a well worked goal to make it 0-2. In previous weeks we would’ve caved, but the desire this week was so much better, we continued to dig in work for each other.
The game finished with a HBW win, but we can be proud of our performance and the effort shown today. We just need to do that every week.

Player of the Match: Rory Swift.

U13s 1 v 6 Skegness Town.
This morning the U13 took on unbeaten Skegness Town, looking for our first league goal and points.

The first 25 minutes were even, with both sides competing well, then a ball over the top coupled with hesitation allowed the Skegness number 9 the opportunity to score inside the box. The half finished with Skegness leading by a single goal.

Unfortunately the second half began with Skegness on the front foot and another ball over the top was well finished, 0-2 down. Within a few minutes a good ball into the box found Harry Inman, who finished well to give us hope at 1-2 and register our first league goal of the season. This should have ignited us, but instead, Skegness took the game to us, winning every 50/50 and playing with a real desire, which sadly we didn’t. Skegness went on to score 4 more times.

Full time 1-6.

In previous weeks we have been unlucky to be on the end of defeats, today that was not the case, Skegness simply wanted it more.

On to next week and HBW away.

⚽️⚽️⚽️ Today’s results ⚽️⚽️⚽️

To clear things up for the rubber neckers and anonymous keyboard warriors!

Sometimes results are irrelevant, sometimes it’s about shared interest and the bond football brings.
Today at the end of the Bs game a medical emergency happened, rivalries were forgotten. A rapid response from both sides and the use of the club defibrillator until the medics arrived hopefully gave the player a chance.
Our thoughts and prayers with those involved. ❤️❤️

Metheringham FCB 0 v 4 OAP

A good start from the Bs keeping OAP back for a good 20 minutes, but, 2 well taken goals, a mistake and a penalty. The Bs can take heart from today’s performance, it will hold them in good stead for the season ahead. ❤️

U13s 0 v 4 Nettleham

This morning the U13s hosted Nettleham, a side who had finished towards the top of this league last season.

In similar fashion to last week, we started well, edging the first 20 minutes. Changes were made and in 5 minutes we found ourselves 0-2, mainly through a lack of awareness and indecision. Half time 0-2

The second half was end to end with neither side really taking control. Nettleham made it 0-3 when the ball was dropped and the opposition striker bundled home. We then lost shape and Nettleham made it 4-0 with a finish at the back post.

Another frustrating day at the office. However we go again next week at home to Skegness

⚽️⚽️⚽️ Today’s results ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Boston Town 4 v 0 U13s

The learning journey following promotion continues.

Travelling to Boston Town we started well and the game was even for 20 minutes until indecision at the back allowed Boston to score with their first real attack. This is how the half ended.

Second half we started well but again were caught out, when a shot from the edge of the box found its way in. 2-0 then became 3-0 when indecision at the back again cost us. The scoring was concluded when a shot from distance was not dealt with.

The scoreline did not reflect the game, several players having good games and on another day we could have found the net on more than one occasion. Credit to the Boston Town keeper who was outstanding throughout and dealt with everything we threw at him.

Unfortunately at those level mistakes will be punished and today this was our downfall.

POTM: Noah Clissold

Next week we host Nettleham on what will be another tough test
🔴⚫️

U10s v Birchwood Broncos

The 10s coming from behind to grab victory in a 7goal thriller.
🔴⚫️

Greenbank v U8s

Playing some good passing football the 8s came away the happier.
🔴⚫️

U7 v NXT
After last weeks display of poor sportsmanship, the 7s bounced back in a more even game, eventually coming away the happier.
🔴⚫️

Next weekend sees the delayed mens season kick off with Metheringham FCB in county cup action v OAP.
Come along and show your support for the team. ❤️🖤
