Capes is the most capped British male athlete of ALL-TIME, receiving 67 International caps and earning 35 wins, not including a further 35 caps for England.

He is a winner of 17 national titles, including being seven times a winner of the AAA championship and three times UK champion.

1980 was the year Capes threw the longest distance of his career, 21.68 metres (71 ft 2 in), in Cwmbran, on 18 May 1980, being a new Commonwealth and British record.

In 1983 he was voted Britain's best-ever field athlete. Capes' 1980 British record still stands.

To say these achievements are remarkable would be understating them, but, this doesn't even begin to explain the life and career that Geoff had.

We'll try to do his unbelievable feats justice in time and share some wonderful memories with you all on this sad day.

RIP Geoff.

We are immensely saddened to hear and learn of Geoff Capes' passing this evening.

Our deepest sympathies from everyone at Lincolnshire Athletics goes out to Geoff's family at this time.

We will be sharing some memories of this great man in due course, and we invite you to tell us the incredible stories you may have, too.

Please, join us in remembering Geoff, forever our Worlds Strongest Man.

Geoff Capes - 23/08/1949 - 23/10/24 🤍

Can anyone help ?
We would like to buy an EDM kit (electronic distance measurement). This along with electronic timing is becoming the norm and is often a requirement in certain competitions. We have the opportunity to purchase a second kit, although these are still pricey. Are there any companies out there who would like to sponsor Lincs Athletics ?
Even a relatively small gesture would take the sting out of getting one.
We're also looking to buy a new gazebo for the xc season. Our tent is no longer fit for purpose.
Maybe get your companies name printed on it.

🔔🚨 ***NEW RECORD ALERT*** 🚨 🔔

With indoor season ticked off, and outdoor track and field records coming thick and fast, we've got plenty of news to bring you over the coming weeks!

Time to showcase another PANVAC athlete, Harry Hewitt! Harry has obliterated the county's male U20 1500m record.

Harry ran a 3.45.09 at a BMC meeting at Sports City, Manchester, last month. He's in great company too, taking the title from a man still setting records in his current category, and ranked above Sir Mo Farah in the British Standings...yep, it's Matt Bowser.

Lincoln Wellington athlete Matt ran a 3:48.12 just down the road at Stretford way back on 25/6/2002. Before Harry was even born! An achievement in itself for the record to stand for so long.

Please join us in congratulating Harry!

If you are a local athlete (born/live in the county), and think you hold a record, or you know somebody who potentially does, please email us on:

[email protected]

(Information and details required are outlined in the link below). You can keep up-to-date right here, or via our website:

We also have a new way to submit your records/potential records, making life much easier for everyone to research, ratify, and update! This will be due out shortly.

Congratulations, once more, Harry. The new male U20 1500m county record holder!

Thank you all for a fantastic day at the Track & Field County Championships, rightfully back in the county.

Today we saw new Championship Records across running, jumping and throwing, including the U13 1500m by Holly Norris in 5:04.3.

We also had the excellent Lincs Chair, Beryl Clay, throw 5.66m in the V85 shot put!

There will be plenty more for us to do in the coming days but from everyone here, thank you so much for competing, officiating, volunteering, organising, spectating, and for everything that's gone into making this happen and be a success.

Please send us any pictures/videos you have of the day, as well as any details of your event for us to share! For now however, from a very warm Lincoln Wellington AC track, over and out! 🫡 Safe journey home, all, and thank you!

🟩▫️🟥▫️🟩 Lincs Athletics! 🟩▫️🟥▫️🟩

It's time to recognise a man who has really started to find his form. Someone who has taken some time out of running, rediscovered his love for it, and does everything to help out his club, Lincoln Wellington! Even competing in long jumps for his team! And now, thoroughly enjoying his time on the track! 🏟️

Yet we aren't here to discuss his exploits in the jumping events. We're here to talk about his sprint game. An absolute speed demon in the short work, and someone who tears up the track and leaves others in his wake ⚡

He's been chomping at the bit to get his outdoor season underway and what a start it was. Competing in the York combined events & track meet, Callum Winchester-Wright blitzed his field to win the 100m by almost half a second. That's alot of time over a quarter of the track! ⏱️

Considering one of his last races was the UK Indoor Champs in Birmingham where he missed out on the final of the 60m by 1000ths of a second to the infamous GB Olympian, Dwain Chambers, running 6.89s, he's really set his stall out for the outdoors with an impressive display. ⏩

This result beats the previous record of 10.62s set last May (2023) in Hull, by...guess who? Yep, you got it. Callum, himself. 🏆 Now a new record of 1️⃣0️⃣▫️5️⃣9️⃣s!

We wish you all the best for the new season and hope you go from strength to strength in your journey. Please congratulate Callum on his new record and as ever, if you are a local athlete (born/live in the county), and think you hold a record, or you know somebody who potentially does, please email us on:

Congratulations once more Callum, the fastest man in Lincolnshire. EVER!
