What a weekend for the team out competing all over the place representing the club 💪🥋
At the British Championships we had Elsa and Eugene flying the flag for the team…
Elsa put on an absolutely dominant performance taking Gold 🥇In the final she was leading 17-2 on points before securing the submission finish 👏An incredible performance and a great example of the hard work she’s been putting in on the mats week in week out.
Eugene came away with Silver 🥈Winning 3 out of his 5 matches against some very tough opponents and showing a lot of grit throughout the day. Massive effort and another great performance.
Over in Leeds at All Stars, Denny carried on his unbelievable run picking up Double Gold in both Gi and NoGi 🥇🥇Winning every single one of his matches by submission 😳The level this kid is performing at right now is scary to watch.
Meanwhile Alicia was over in Germany at the Antwerp Ippon Trophy competing up an age category in the Under 18s despite still only being 14 years old 👏She battled through the knockout rounds with 4 ippons and only 1 loss before meeting an old rival in the semi finals. The final went all the way into golden score where she narrowly missed out on Gold, eventually taking Silver 🥈To be competing and performing like that against older opponents says everything about her heart and ability.
Couldn’t be prouder of everyone representing the club this weekend.Win, lose or draw… it’s great seeing the hard work paying off and the team continuing to grow 💪

Truly inspiring 👏
Not every champion looks the same.
Some are mums of five. Some start later in life. Some are balancing training, work, neurodivergence advocacy, and raising children with disabilities and still step onto the mats and win.
Today we want to highlight Elsa. 🖤
A Masters 4 white belt at 52kg, Elsa has achieved:
🥇 British Open Gi 2025
🥇 British Open NoGi 2025
🥇 AllStars Europeans 2026 wearing the WTF Deathmoth Gi
🏆 Ranked No.1 on the AllStars Global White Belt Masters rankings
And she’s done this after training for just over ONE year.
At 47 years old, Elsa proves that it is never too late to start, compete, and achieve incredible things.
Outside of competition, Elsa is also a passionate supporter of neurodivergence awareness through her own experiences, her children, and her work. As a mum to five children with disabilities, her strength goes far beyond medals.
Her children also train BJJ, showing exactly how powerful this sport can be for confidence, resilience, community, and growth.
Through the WTF Initiative, we covered Elsa’s most recent competition entry fees as a way of recognising everything she represents both on and off the mats.
This is what the WTF Initiative is about.
Supporting women in the community where we can and highlighting the incredible stories within the sport.

Another great day out for the team yesterday at the Empire Yorkshire Open 🥋
We only had a small team competing but everyone represented the club brilliantly and showed loads of heart 💪
In the juniors…
First time competing for both Lottie and Josh.
Unfortunately it didn’t quite go Josh’s way this time, losing both of his matches, but he’s gone away learning so much from the experience and already can’t wait to get back out there and try again. That attitude is what it’s all about 👏
Lottie did amazing…Picking up silver in the Gi 🥈Winning her first match by RNC before narrowly losing in the final on points against a bigger and more experienced opponent.
She then came back in the NoGi division and took gold 🥇Winning her first match 19-0 on points and then securing the win in the final by armbar 👏
Then there was Dom…Who hadn’t competed for a number of years and stepped straight back in against some very tough and experienced competitors.
He won his first match on points, lost his second against the current European champion, then came back and won his next match by submission in just 17 seconds to take bronze 🥉
In the adults…Eugene had a great day picking up gold 🥇Winning his first match on points before finishing the final by submission 💪
Win, lose or draw we’re proud of everyone that steps out there and tests themselves. Onwards to the next one 👊

What a fantastic day at the club for our juniors! 🥋
Huge congratulations to everyone who was awarded stripes on their belts — all well earned through consistent hard work, effort and a great attitude on the mats. It’s brilliant to see everyone progressing and growing in confidence week by week.
A big thank you as always to the parents for the continued support — it really does make a difference.
We followed it up with a great group bonding session… 🎳 ten pin bowling with both the kids and parents getting involved! Safe to say there were a few competitive spirits on show 😅
Days like this are what it’s all about — more than just training, we’re building a strong, supportive community. 💪

A couple of the team have been out competing again this week… 👊
Denny was over in Ireland at the IBJJF European Kids Championships…
And Caleb competed at the Northern Gi & NoGi Submission Open in Sheffield.
🏆 Denny is now a European Champion!
Taking first place with an incredible performance…
A submission win in the semi-final in under 30 seconds, then a hard-fought final where he won on points—coming close multiple times to securing another finish.
After 4 years of training, it’s been amazing to watch Denny’s journey and how much he’s progressed. Everyone at the club is proud of him 💪
🥉 Caleb came away with a bronze medal…
Winning his first match on points and narrowly losing the second by just 2 points—against an older, more experienced yellow belt.
Caleb is still only a white belt, and to step up and take on that level of opposition shows serious heart and determination 👏
Well done mate—onwards and upwards from here 🔥

To top off what’s been a great weekend for the team out competing…
Alicia has been over in Ireland at the Northern Ireland Open and put in another top performance 💪
🥇 Gold in Juniors
🥈 Silver in Cadets
Stepping up across divisions and still bringing home medals — says everything about her attitude and work ethic 👏
We’re all proud of you at the club, Alicia… keep pushing, this is just the start 🔥

Big congratulations to Ruby 👏🔥
She competed today at the Elite BJJ Events Junior National Championships — stepping into a pure grappling competition for the very first time.
Despite having plenty of experience in MMA and kickboxing, this was a new challenge… and she stepped up massively 💪
Taking on a more experienced opponent, Ruby showed great composure and determination to secure the win on points — a brilliant performance all round.
First grappling comp, first win… and definitely not the last 👊
Proud of you Ruby — back to the mats and building from here! 🤼
