Lincoln Cannons Volleyball Club

🌟Weekly Recap🌟

🏐 M1’s start to the new season in Division 1 North came against a well established and well depthed Sheffield team. A strong defensive game paired with a versatile attack from M1 made for a spectical but Sheffield’s huge block and ability to rotate players frequently meant M1 were narrowly defeated. Far more positives than negatives to take away ready for the next game.

🏆 MVP was awarded to Naz!

Alongside the local league action this past weekend, we also saw our U18 Boys and Girls take part in their first Grand Prix of the year!

🏐 On Saturday, the U18 boys got off to an exceptional start, winning 2-0 in the bronze pool against Tamworth, followed by some close but unfortunate games against the highest level teams they’ve played to date. Despite not ideal results, the team stayed loud throughout the whole tournament, showing great energy and determination on court.

🏐 On Sunday, the U18 girls played some great volleyball during their first Grand Prix! The team spirit was strong throughout and they showed great hustle in every single game against some strong and established teams. Despite not taking the wins, they managed to gain lots of points in each set, and never gave up against the strong opponents.

🌟Weekly Recap🌟

🏐 What a great start to the new season! Cannons B came out strong to take an early 2 set lead, with great energy and support across the team. Although Cannons A managed to bring it back and make it a 5 set game, Cannons B handled the pressure well and pulled together when it mattered to secure a well earned 3–2 win.

🏆 MVP was awarded to Ethan and Simon!

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dave Gardner, our longest-serving local referee, who we could always count on to be there whenever we needed him — sometimes at very short notice.

Dave’s commitment and dedication to the sport, and to the local and regional volleyball community, were nothing short of remarkable. His contribution, reliability and passion will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

We thank Dave for his years of service and dedication to the sport. May he rest peacefully 🩵🏐🕊️

🏐 | SAD PASSING

🙏 | Volleyball England has been deeply saddened to learn of the passing of David Gardner, who was a volleyball player and referee for many years, both in university and national league fixtures, as well as sitting volleyball.

🗨 | Vastly experienced referee and official Glynn Archibald, Sitting Volleyball Lead on the Volleyball England Officials’ Working Group, described him as 'a gentleman'. Our deepest condolences go to David's family and friends at this difficult time.

📅 | A wake will be held on 10th October and anyone wishing to attend should email [email protected] for further details.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Helen Crawford, an inspirational and much loved member of our Cannons family.

Helen’s strength and courage throughout illness enabled her to continue to play the sport she loved, and we were blessed to share the court with her.

We will forever miss Helen’s positivity and motivation during team talks and her passion on court. The way Helen would celebrate every point like we had won the game is something we should all take on board.

Rest easy Helen, forever our scottish warrior. We know you’ll always be watching on.

Once a Cannon... always a Cannon 💙🏐🕊✨️

A very fun time was had by all at our pre-season social! Lincoln Water Park was definitely a good way of testing fitness levels before we get back into the season with matches😅
