True Heroes Racing Supporting Active and Inactive, Wounded, Injured & Sick UK Service Personnel and Veterans. Engage, Empower, Inspire. More than just a race team!

True Heroes Racing is the brain child of a serving member of the Royal Navy who has been lucky enough to return from several Tours of Duty in Afghanistan uninjured. After working with a large number of injured UK Service personnel on motorsport charity events it was decided to try and use competitive motorsport as a way of restoring a sense of direction and focus for our injured UK Service personnel and in 2012 “True Heroes Racing” was formed.

The final round at the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch was a brilliant weekend on and off the circuit. A team effort that truly summed up who we are.
In the BMW F900r, Chris #812 had an off in the Last Chance Qualifier but thankfully walked away fine and in good spirits. Leon #50 dug deep and delivered a strong finish to close out his season in 27th. Kenny #36 KM36 Racing put in a superb ride, taking P10 in the race and securing 9th in the championship after a year of hard graft.
The final Pirelli National Superstock race was a very wet one, with a rapid tyre change on the grid for both riders. The whole crew pulled together seamlessly to make it happen. Paul #89 brought it home in 21st and Charlie #44 stormed to an incredible P14, earning his first‑ever championship points. A massive moment for him and the team.
Off track, it was one of our busiest weekends of the year. We welcomed The Chelsea Pensioners along with so many guests and new supporters, many of them who came to see what True Heroes Racing is all about. Everyone pitched in to make the last round the best it could be.
Now we take a short breather… then it’s full steam ahead as we prepare for our 15th year.

As has happened every year since its creation in 2018, the final round of the British Superbike Championship season held at Brands Hatch saw True Heroes Racing present the Mark Fincham Memorial Award.
Created in memory of our teammate Mark Fincham, tragically killed racing at Thruxton in 2017, the award honours a National Superstock rider who has shown exceptional strength in overcoming adversity — just as Mark did every single day as an amputee Royal Marine Veteran.
For 2026, the awarding panel — including James Whitham, our Founder Phil and this year joined by James Hayden — selected Jaimie van Sikkelerus 74 of TAG Racing.
In late February, Jaimie suffered a freak pre‑season training injury, breaking his right leg and requiring extensive surgery. By mid‑March he was already deep into physio and rehab, pushing hard to get back on a bike. He missed all pre‑season testing and round 1 at Oulton Park. He attempted to return at Donington for round 2, but after Free Practice it was clear he wasn’t yet fit enough, forcing him to sit out the rest of the event.
After another month of recovery during the TT break, Jaimie returned full‑time at Knockhill in June, immediately scoring points in both races. He continued to build strength, taking a season‑best 12th at Oulton Park in August. At his home round in Assen, wildcarding in the Dutch BeNeLux Trophy, he dominated the event and won both races. Back in the UK, he delivered two strong 12th‑place finishes at Donington Park.
At the final BSB round, Jaimie ended his season on a high — P11 in Race 1 and an outstanding P9 in the last race of the year.

Despite a major injury just nine weeks before round 1, Jaimie refused to give up. He fought back, returned to full‑time racing only 15 weeks after the incident and delivered a season defined by grit, determination and heart.
The 2026 Mark Fincham Memorial Award recipient:

Not the end to the day we hoped for, Chris #812 was pushing to make the final F900r BMW race in the Last Chance Qualifier and took a tumble. We are pleased to report that he’s fine. Thanks as always to the Marshalls and Medical staff for looking after him.

Massive thanks to our sponsor Grantham Fabrication & Profile Services LTD who not only designed and manufactured these 2 pieces of equipment to aid us with moving, storing and transporting the metalwork for our paddock awning; but also actually delivered them direct to us at Donington Park BSB last week, so we could put them straight into use.

As many of you will know some of our team members have physical injuries, so to remove the need to "hand ball" the multiple metal framework sections and have a single trolley to move it all around on is a game changer. Add to this the storage frame now installed inside our cargo trailer making transportation and storage for the long roof spars a more efficient and organised affair.

Contact the team at Grantham Fabrications for any and all your metalwork fabrication needs.

Our pleasure to host patients and staff from the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Stanford Hall at the weekend at Donington Park. Another key part of our off track mission that has been at the heart of what we do from the very beginning.

Some may have seen this, but for those that didn't here is Paul's attempt at becoming an astronaut with his mega highside coming out the Melbourne Loop in yesterday's race.

We're pleased to report he's fine, bit sore and some lovely bruises, but otherwise perfectly fine. Testament to the quality of the kit riders wear competing at this level (LS2 Helmets UK, Knox, Formaboots, Sam Sah) and all our riders are fortunate to be supported by.

The only lasting effects are those caused by James Haydon referring to him as an "Army Lad", when he's an RAF Veteran, live on TV!!!!

The bike's a different story, but the team were on it before we even left the circuit yesterday and he'll be back out at Brands Hatch for the final round in 12 days time.

Well that was an unfortunate end to the weekend for #89 Paul coming off at the Melbourne Loop. We are glad to report he is fine. Charlie #44 finished the race on a better lap time than our previous visit to Donington, so a great end to the weekend for him. The team have some work to do to get the bike ready for the final round at Brands Hatch in 2 weeks time. Who’s joining us?
