Photos, two from the old gym, early eighties, and two from the new gym
later in the eighties.
Well, what a fantastic night it turned out to be, last Sunday, on our clubs 50th
Anniversary party at the Moorlands Railway Club.
They turned up in great numbers, familiar faces, yes older faces, some now in their fifties, a lot in now in their sixties, and yes a lot now in their seventies, and at least one in his eighties.
All mixing and getting on well with the present lot of young boxers and training boys and girls. Group playing, lovely Buffet laid on, and we had glorious sunshine. Made my heart feel good to see all the older people ,mixing on equal, with all the younger generation. There’s something to be said, about the boxing comradeship spreading across the generations.
All I can really say, is I am thankful from the heart, for every single person who turned up on the night and
made it such a special memorable occasion.
Yep , it certainly did, made our day. THANKS, from all at BRACEBRIDGE BOXING 🥊. # # # # #
Now the dust has settled 🥊
Massive respect to Ellie Nelson. 👊🥊
When I put Ellie forward for the Ed Bilbey Box Cup, it was in the novice section. She was then moved into the Senior Elite category, meaning she would be boxing over 3x3 minute rounds. Not once did she question it. She simply listened, dug in, and worked hard.
Then, on the day, we found out she would be facing a German opponent. Again, Ellie took it all in her stride.
A lot of work went on behind the scenes. Alongside the coaches who have helped develop Ellie over time, extra effort was put into preparing her for such a big event. Her sparring was tailored around more experienced opponents to help bridge the inevitable challenge she would face, and once we knew she would be boxing Senior Elite rules, everything was geared towards 3x3 minute rounds.
There is a lot we can all learn from Ellie. Her attitude, commitment, and willingness to step outside her comfort zone are exactly what boxing is about.
She is a credit to Bracebridge ABC, an absolute dream to work with, and a fearless young lady. Whatever comes next, she should be incredibly proud of herself. 👊🥊💙💛

Ellie came up just short today against a seasoned southpaw in the semi-final, but what a performance she produced.
It took her a little time to adapt to the challenges of the opposite stance, but once she found her range, established her foot position and settled into the contest, she began to show exactly what she’s capable of. In true Bracebridge style, her strongest work came in the final round, where she finished the bout strongly and showed tremendous heart, determination and skill.
As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder. We really rolled the dice entering Ellie into a senior elite Box Cup after just one England Boxing contest and one white-collar bout, but it was an educated gamble and one that Ellie embraced with both hands.
Today she proved that she belongs at this level and can mix it with some of the very best. This experience will only make her stronger, and I have no doubt there is plenty more to come from her.
Well done, Ellie. The result doesn’t define the performance – the courage to step up and compete at this level does. 🥊👏
