It was the first ERCHA show of the year at Sudbrooke Park Cattle Company this weekend! All of our instructors were competing as were most of the horses in the riding school!
Joe Midgley competed his own horse, Remy and one in training (Picnic). He won the Open Two Rein Fence work!
Tom Wilkinson won the Cowboy class with Rubin. Tom also showed Bugsy and Evie, winning the two rein Spectacular on Sunday!
Lauren Bustin had a fantastic show competing on Penny. Lauren won the Open Bridle Spectacular along with most of the classes she entered! Well done!
Herbie competed in the Herd work with Chloe Wilkinson winning the Ranch cutting!
Charlie won the Non pro herdwork with Harriet Styles!
As well as the cowboy class with Tom, you might have seen Rubin moving cattle around and turning back with George Willmot in the saddle
Dylan was ridden by Bella Bar, who won the Non pro bridle spectacular!
Overall, I’d say our horses and riders were fantastic! Well done to everyone that competed.
Remember, if you’d like to come and ride a fully trained western horse, all you have to do is message us here - or read all about it on the website - https://www.sudbrookeparkcattleco.co.uk

Since our riding school opened its doors we have been busy teaching people from near and far all about western riding at Sudbrooke Park Cattle Company
Now, we’re excited to go one bigger! Alongside our week long ranch holiday, you can now have a one (or more) day Ranch experience!
Guided by Joe Midgley Horsemanship ( www.joemidgleyhorsemanship.co.uk ) , you’ll experience life working on a real cattle ranch! You’ll meet your own working western horse for the day, and together you’ll spend the day working and riding around the ranch!
Get to know your horse in the arena in the morning, and become familiar with the movements and techniques you need to work cattle. Learn to handle a rope, work gates and navigate some obstacles before heading inside for lunch.
In the afternoon you’ll head out to check cattle across different pastures!
Minimum of two people per experience day
If you’d like to book a couple of days together and make a mini holiday, we can accommodate that too!
Don’t hesitate to get in touch! There are limited dates available!
Priced at £300pp to include horse hire, lunch and the days instruction

HAPPY EASTER!
Joe, Tom and Lauren have been away competing in the Ranch riding and Reining at Oakridge this weekend!
Meanwhile, back at home, three of our riding school horses have been having a more relaxed weekend… Rubin, Falco and Herbie got a bit confused when they heard people were having eggs for breakfast today!

Authenticity is important to us!
At West Drive Quarter Horses, our three instructors are all training horses, working cattle or teaching people to do all of the above every single day! That’s if they’re not out competing!
Joe has competed internationally from a young age and travels around the UK as both a Clinician and Behaviourist! Over the last few years he has focused on competitive ranch riding, winning numerous national high points and titles in that time. With Toms help, Joe is really enjoying getting into the working cow horse, and will be competing at all the ERCHA shows this coming year!
Now based at Sudbrooke, with a string of horses in training, Joe is preparing for a season defending those high points and titles as well as returning to international competition in Germany this summer! Also training English horses, Joe loves helping English riders ‘convert’ to the western style of riding!
Lauren spent her childhood riding jumpers and event horses before she came to Sudbrooke in 2021 and quickly adapted to Western Riding. Lauren is an integral part of our calf rearing operation, she knows our horses inside and out and uses them to handle our cattle multiple times each week.
Lauren has learned from European and American clinicians during her time here and has competed in the Cow Horse since its infancy in the UK, winning the Open Bridle class in 2023. Lauren has gone on to have future successes in the Trail and Herd Work and remains a fierce competitor in the Open Bridle classes at the ERCHA shows.
Although he’d never say it himself, Tom has had a massive impact on the development of western riding in the UK over the last few years!
Passionate about breeding, training and showing Cow Horses since 2013, Tom continues to learn from great horsemen and horsewomen from all over the world whenever he can.
Tom competes in the ERCHA Cow Horse classes, showing multiple horses at each show, as well as coaching clients and helping to prepare their horses. Tom won the hotly contested Open Bridle Spectacular along with the Novice Horse class in 2025. He has a broad understanding of Western horsemanship and develops young horses for a range of Western disciplines.
Tom has an outstanding ability to read a cow, and he enjoys helping others to develop their stockmanship in clinics and private sessions throughout the year.
