Just over a year ago, I went from teaching fitness classes 80% of my working week to teaching just two classes in one gym.
At the time, it felt scary. But looking back, it was the push I needed to be brave, step outside my comfort zone and find my way back to teaching in a completely different way.
Since then, I’ve joined Liverpool music hub, met some wonderful colleagues and worked with amazing children of all ages. I’ve kept my Zumba and yoga group in L8 going, and just recently we returned to our old venue, only this time, I’m renting the space myself.
I also joined another company and started working in a hospital, delivering movement and music sessions. I’ve welcomed new piano students, continued teaching fitness and wellbeing, and slowly built a freelance life that looks very different from what it did a year ago.
So I made this reel to give you a little glimpse into what a week in my life as a freelancer can look like. 🎶🧘♀️🎹💃
But there was another big change happening alongside all of this.
I returned to my faith and started visiting different churches. I went all in, reading the Bible in six months and going through a real process of deconstructing and rebuilding my faith.
And my prayer was simple:
“God, I’ve had enough of doing things my way. Lead the way.”
And that’s exactly what I feel has happened.
I’m learning that my work isn’t just about the classes, the music, the movement or the teaching. My mission is to use the skills I’ve been given to bring joy, connection and a little bit of light to other people.
A year ago, I was scared of what was next. Now, I’m grateful I didn’t close the door.
Thank you to everyone who has trusted me, supported me, joined a class, booked a session, learnt with me, worked alongside me or simply encouraged me along the way. ❤️
Here’s to following the doors that open — one step at a time.
