From setting hole locations and placing championship flags, to ensuring immaculate presentation across the course, our greenkeeping team has been hard at work behind the scenes as we welcome the world's leading amateur golfers to Hoylake.

These are the details that often go unseen, but they are an essential part of creating a true championship test. Their dedication, expertise and pride in the course help ensure Royal Liverpool is presented at its very best, at all times.

Our Captain, Neil McBurney, had the pleasure of presenting Rob Davis and David Lewis with Royal Liverpool bottle openers to mark their extraordinary 156 million-to-one feat.

As many of you will have seen, both players recorded a hole-in-one on the 15th hole, Little Eye, during the same round. A remarkable achievement in its own right, and even more so when it happens twice in the same group!

Moments such as these become part of club folklore, and it was fitting that Rob and David received a small memento to remember a day they will never forget.

Congratulations once again to both gentlemen on a truly exceptional achievement.

A look at some local names in the field for the 131st Amateur Championship.

Three Hoylake members have earned their place in the main field: Matthew Dodd-Berry, Ben Bolton, and Dan Hayes. All three know this course better than almost anyone else in the draw, and that kind of familiarity with a links this demanding is a rare advantage at a championship of this level.

Also confirmed in the field is Jamie Van Wyk of Royal Lytham & St Annes. Strong local representation across the board.

Meanwhile, we wish good luck to the northwest representatives competing in Pre-Qualifying and hope to see you here in a few weeks.

The 131st Amateur Championship arrives at Hoylake this month, with an incredibly strong field on show.

The world ranking cut-off is the best it has been in years, American entries have never been higher, and the handicap threshold just to reach Pre-Qualifying - +4.6 - is at a record high. The R&A has put serious work into bringing the best amateur players in the world to the event, and the entry list reflects it.

The Amateur Championship returns to Hoylake this June 🏆

Few clubs are woven into the history of the amateur game quite like Royal Liverpool. Hoylake hosted the very first Amateur Championship in 1885 and has remained part of the championship’s story ever since, helping shape the game through generations of great amateur golf. From Allan Macfie and John Ball to some of the finest players of the modern era, these links have long been a proving ground for champions.

Royal Liverpool looks forward to welcoming the championship back to Hoylake for the nineteenth time this summer.
