Merseyside 3-a-sides

We are still needing just two more teams to complete the line up for the first ever 3-a-sides that takes place at Scotties on Sunday 1st Nov.

Matt Haslam and Chris Clephan are starting a brand new Merseyside District county team. If there’s any players that wish to play for the new team in the National County Championships which start in November, please contact Matt on 07963 776473.

The 2026/27 season will start with the brand new Merseyside 3-a-side at Scotties which will take place on Sunday 1st November.

Format
• A maximum of 4 players can make up a team; 3 players can play in a match.
• Choose your own team name
• There will be 2 groups of four teams; each team playing three group matches; Top two teams in each group will qualify for the Semi Finals and will be played to a finish on the day.
• Group matches: Each player plays 2 frames; 1 pt per frame. If team match finishes 3-3, a blue ball shoot out decides match winner.
• Semis and Final: Each player will play Best of 3 match. A 2-0 or 2-1 win secures match win. All three matches played at same time.
• All matches played off Scratch
• Dress Code: Smart Casual
• Entry: £30 per team

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer break. We will soon be announcing the 2026/27 competition calendar which kicks off with a BRAND NEW team competition in early autumn, the Merseyside 3-a-side. Details will be published in the coming days.

Before the 2026/27 Merseyside Snooker Competition Calendar is organised and announced during the summer, we need to have in place a new team of TD’s who can help with organising a few competitions and communicating details to players / leagues across the Merseyside region. Congratulations to Josh Southworth who won the Merseyside Handicap Trophy yesterday, beating Andy Molyneux 3-1 in the final at Scotties. Josh had earlier beat Luke Palethorpe in the semi finals. Big thanks to Dean Bentley for overseeing and officiating yesterday’s proceedings.

Tomorrow Fri 26th June, the Garston Snooker League will be holding a very special awards night marking its 80th Anniversary at SAMH Club in Di**le. Former World Champion John Parrott MBE will be presenting the awards, with top live entertainment from internationally renowned artist Alison Daly. Radio presenter and actress / singer Clare Campbell O’Herlihy will be hosting the night which includes lots of former champions / teams etc. Current WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson will be travelling up to enjoy the evening which starts at 8pm. ENTRY IS FREE…Their may also be a few hydration breaks

The North Merseyside Snooker League hold their Open Final tonight between Adam Brown and Bob McCune over the best of 7 frames.

The match will be hosted by PSD Sports Lounge and will be live streamed on the PSD SPORTS LOUNGE page with a 7:30pm start.

Both players qualify for the next prestigious Merseyside Champion of Champions event, but who goes in as Champion will be decided tonight. Best of luck to both players. 🏆

The draw for this years Merseyside Handicap Trophy will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 26th May. All players that have entered will be notified of start times etc by the TD.
