40 years ago it was a common sight in Liverpool Tennis Clubs but, for over a generation now it was thought to be completely extinct until.....an intrepid Cressington 4th team exploring the Hightown area for a league match discovered a surviving example of..... a grass tennis court!

Our new Men's 4th Team achieved their first win of the season in the Liverpool League on Friday. Here's the squad on Sunday honing their match skills in a mini tournament.

For their first match in the TennisLiverpool League, our new Men's 4th team let the 'train take the strain' to travel to their match at Formby. Here they are on the way home at Freshfields Station.

A terrific evening for our annual spring club celebration, this time at Carlisi, Allerton. So great to celebrate the start of the season with members old and new! Thanks to all who organised.

A beautiful evening at Cressington for the first league match of the summer season. Our A team ladies are playing their Division One match at home against Aughton tonight. Let’s hope for many more evenings like this!

Cressington Tennis Club has been named CLUB OF THE YEAR by Tennis Lancashire.

A group of our members attended the Tennis Lancashire Awards Evening last night at Bolton Wanderers FC, where chairman Tony Desmond was presented with the award by Roger Draper, former CEO of Sport England and the Lawn Tennis Association.

The award comes after the club saw a 10-year vision finally come to fruition with the building of a new clubhouse. Now we have 175 active members, a fantastic social tennis programme and coaching for all ages. A proud moment for our club! 🎾

Cressington has been named Liverpool Tennis’s 2025 CLUB OF THE YEAR! 🎉

The award is given to the most pro-active club in terms of membership increase, facility development, success in league and cup competions, quality of ‘Tennis offer’ and overall impact in the local Tennis community.

It’s a fantastic honour that comes in a year when we opened a new clubhouse, celebrated our 140-year anniversary and achieved league success with both our men’s and women’s teams.

We all feel very lucky to be part of such a friendly and successful tennis community - and this is the icing on the cake!

Last night we celebrated 140 years of Cressington Tennis Club in the historic surroundings of The Racquet Club, Liverpool. It was an evening to remember, attended by members, partners and friends of the club. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to let their hair down and raise a toast to our very old club - and its bright future.

A big thank you to everyone who made our Garden Party on Sunday such a memorable afternoon.
