Ready for tomorrow

After the excitement of England's Cricket World Cup win last Sunday Grindleton return to action this Sunday with a home game against Chipping (2pm start). Everyone welcome, why not bring a picnic and enjoy our beautiful ground.
Throughout this season it has become obvious that we are struggling to raise a team and failing to fulfill our fixture list on a regular basis.
We have therefore decided to take a cricket sabbatical for the rest of the season and will cancel our remaining fixtures.
We will continue to maintain the outfield and square which will allow us to arrange a fixture at short notice if there is enough interest later in the summer.
In early 2019 we will arrange a meeting to gauge interest for next season. At that stage we will decide one way or another if the club as an ongoing future.
We have limited fixtures this season. See list below. You are always guaranteed a warm welcome. Enjoy a picnic and a beverage. Toilet facilities available

Please, will you all share this photo and see if we can get it to go viral :) Let's see if we can get the story of the Pendle witches all over the world.
For those of you who were around Clitheroe and the surrounding villages in 1979, you must remember this next photograph? We had a lot of snow over the winter in question and when the snow melted it formed a "WITCH" shape in the snow on the side of Pendle Hill.
Please comment below your thoughts and what you remember about it!

So another season passes. We we won more than we lost which contributes to a success.
Thanks everyone who played, supported and contributed to the ground upkeep this season especially Olly and Chauky, without these guys we wouldn't have a cricket club.
We are looking for volunteers in the next couple of weeks to help loam the square and shut the ground down for the winter. Will confirm a date shortly.
We look forward to 2018. I can confirm we will be offering a new playing contract to Keith. Winter well my friend and c u at Christmas.
El Capitano
What a proud day for the boys. Having mustered only 9 players for the journey to Hurst Green the team defied all the odds to will by 65 runs.
Winning the toss Wilkinson called upon veteran Michael Crossland to open the batting with the evergreen Craig Whitaker and his gamble paid dividends as the openers put on a century stand.
Crossland was eventually out for 60 and Whittaker 43 but with valuable contributions by Lancaster 46 and Henry O 36 the away team finished on 195 from their 32 overs.
Superb bowing and fielding with major bowling contributions from Wilkinson, Lancaster and young buck Jake Connelly so Grindleton home in grate fashion.
A truly magnificant team performance producing a victory of magnitude in Grindleton cricket club history.
Stand up and take a bow boys.
