"You got me in the best shape years ago... and then Covid happened."

That was one of the first things Jay said when she reached out to me again šŸ’œ

We'd worked together before and she knew exactly what was possible when she committed to the process.

Fast forward to last week…

She went to Ibiza feeling confident in her bikini, over a stone lighter, and actually enjoying her girlie holiday instead of worrying about photos or what to wear.

She looks fabulousšŸ”„

First goal achieved āœ…

The main goal is THE WEDDING šŸ’

Jay gave herself time, followed the plan, and now she's reaping the rewards.

If you've got a holiday coming up and you're thinking, "I really need to do something about this," then now is the time.

Because the women who feel their best on holiday aren't the ones crash dieting two weeks before they fly.

They're the ones who started when they still had time.

Summer isn't over yet... but you'll need to act fast if you want to feel confident, strong and fabulous when your holiday comes around.

Drop me a message with the word HOLIDAY and let's get started!

If you're still showing up, still trying, and still making your health a priority, you're already doing more than most.

You are the minority.

Most people put their health on the back burner.

Most people keep saying, "I'll wait for the right time" or "I'll start next week."

Most people do nothing, even though they know they should.

The reality is that many people don't take action until they're forced to.

So if you're making the effort to train, eat better, and look after yourself now, give yourself some credit.

Keep going 🩵

Classes will get you fit.

But they won’t build muscle and change your body shape.

If you know, you know ā¤ļø

Something I haven’t talked about for a while...

Bodybuilding.

I’m a Natural Masters Figure Athlete, and over the past 10 years I’ve competed in a lot of shows.

This was me back in Summer 2022.

There’s 10kgs difference between these videos, and where my body weight is now.

And whilst I’m incredibly proud of what I achieved, I think it’s important to talk about the reality behind a physique like this.

When you see someone this lean, you need to understand that it’s not how they look all year round.

Nor is it a place you should, stay.

Or chase each year for that matter.

Getting to this level of leanness takes a lot.

A strict calorie deficit.
No meals out.
No alcohol.
No spontaneity around food.
Training when you don’t always feel like it.
Prioritising sleep, recovery and routine.
Saying no to things. A lot.

And, quite often, dragging your arse around.

It’s a period of complete focus and commitment with a very specific goal in mind.

And whilst social media often glorifies the end result, it rarely shows the sacrifices, the challenges, the hunger, the fatigue, or the impact that getting stage lean can have on your health, hormones, energy levels and social life.

I was actually supposed to compete this year.

But after an injury last October, followed by another injury, both affecting my lower body, my training wasn’t where it needed to be.

Instead of pushing ahead regardless, I chose to focus on recovery.

For me, there was no point prepping for a show when I couldn’t give my off-season everything I had.

I love competing, but I won’t do it half arsed.

I compete because I love to train, not the other way around.

Training comes first. Competing is the bonus.

So where am I going with this?

Maybe it’s simply a reminder that what you see online is often a snapshot in time.

A peak.

Not a permanent reality.

I’m proud of this physique.

I’m equally proud that I didn’t feel the need to maintain it.

Because health, strength, performance and longevity matter more than being as lean as possible.

And that’s a lesson that took me years to learn. ā¤ļø

True story.

This came from a conversation with a client of mine.

She’s 50, works bloody hard, and looks incredible.

But she’d been feeling flat… because she was comparing herself to women in their early twenties on social media.

That old rabbit hole šŸ•³ļø

And it made me think how brutal we are to ourselves sometimes.

We’re literally comparing lived-in, real bodies to curated highlights.

Airbrushed, posed, perfect lighting, one split second of someone else’s life.

(Not throwing any shade to these girls btw, they look fabulous, christ, my own daughters are in their early twenties too).

But come on, it’s a losing game from the start.

And yet so many women do it without even realising.

I said something to her in the moment that was a bit blunt… but honest.

And it stopped her in her tracks.

I’ll let the post speak for itself.

Who’s guilty of comparing themselves to people they have absolutely no business comparing themselves to?

This is my 2nd leg session of the week and is a little more quad-focused.

After what feels like forever dealing with injuries and niggles, I’m finally feeling strong, pain-free, and able to push myself without constantly worrying about what might flare up next.

I’m just happy to be training lower body properly again!

Six months ago I wasn’t sure when I’d get back to feeling like this, so I’m making the most of every session.

A few extra wins too...

The pendulum squat still isn’t quite back to where it was before, but there’s no pain in my left leg anymore. That’s something I’ll happily take, and I know the numbers will keep building over time.

The leg press was another positive. It’s a very quad-dominant press that I haven’t really been able to push properly for a long time, so it’s nice to see that strength coming back. It’s a killer and very humbling 😣

I also added a couple of exercises back into the mix.

BB hip thrusts are back and I’m absolutely loving them. I don’t think I’m quite ready for 140kg yet, but I’ll happily take the 4-ish reps I squeezed out for now šŸ˜‚

And the ab roller is back too. The first time I tried it again after a very, very long break, I genuinely thought I’d pulled a muscle because I was sore for days afterwards 🤣

Safe to say I’m a very happy girlie right now... and pain-free too ā¤ļø

You don't have to be unhappy where you're at to want to improve.

Ella wasn't miserable and hating her body.

She wasn't struggling.

She just fancied looking a bit leaner on holiday.

Nowt wrong with that.

She decided she wanted to tidy things up ahead of a busy summer and a holiday in Crete.

Our approach wasn't extreme.

Life defo didn't stop.

She's 23, I think I can just about remember that šŸ˜‚... So there was still room for meals out, social events and all the things that make life enjoyable.

She achieved 13lbs loss in 10 weeks and enjoyed her holiday feeling fitter, leaner and more confident in her bikini.

That's all this was really about.

Not every goal has to be life-changing.

Sometimes it's just about feeling a bit better in yourself for what you've got coming up. šŸ’›

If you're interested in seeing what you can achieve, drop me a message and let's have a chat, I have coaching spaces available now.
