500 children. 60 finalists. 15 school teams. One very loud day at Holyhead Leisure Centre. đ
The first OLIVER Anglesey Schools Competition brought squash to children across the island, following free taster sessions in local schools and a brilliant finals day full of teamwork, energy and flying rackets.
A huge thank you to and for the grant support that made the school sessions, build-up activity and finals day completely free for pupils and schools.
And thank you to Tesco for kindly providing free fruit for every child on finals day, helping keep the next generation fuelled, smiling and ready for the next rally. đđđ
Congratulations to all the schools involved, and especially:
đ 1st â Ysgol Corn Hir First Team
đ„ 2nd â Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi
đ„ 3rd â Ysgol Corn Hir Second Team
This was about more than one competition. It was about giving children a first taste of squash, creating a pathway into local sport, and showing what can happen when schools, clubs, councils and local supporters come together.
Judging by the noise inside Holyhead Leisure Centre, Anglesey squash might have just found its next generation.
