🎣 Llyn Clywedog Report β€” 26th August 🎣

πŸ“Š Season stocking to date: 31,250

🌦️ Well, at last, it’s good news! It seems a change in the weather all round has lowered the water temperature down to 16.2Β°C, and the fish have returned to the surface with a vengeance! 🐟πŸ’₯

Over the last couple of days, we’ve had some outstanding sport on dries, with some anglers recording over 30 fish on CDCs and Daddies. πŸͺ°πŸŽ£πŸ‘

πŸ’§ Water levels continue to cause us concern, but we are doing everything possible to keep things going.

🚰 The water release has finally been slowed, and hopefully, looking ahead, the conditions appear to be bringing some much-needed rain. 🀞🌧️

🏞️ Areas:
β€’ Eblid Basin
β€’ Cages
β€’ Dinas Point
β€’ Yacht Club frontage
β€’ Bwlch y Gle area

🎣 Bank angling is still pretty much limited to the Bwlch y Gle area, with plenty of fish being caught there, but boats are still the best option. 🚀🐟

🎣 Llyn Clywedog Weekly Fishing Report β€” 20th August

🎣 Weekly Stock: 500
πŸ“Š Season to Date: 31,250

Well, maybe we’ve turned the corner at last with the sinking lines! πŸŽ‰

Last weekend we hosted a round of the 6x4 Series πŸ† and the lake fished incredibly well, with an 8.1 fish rod average 🎣. Pretty much all the fish were caught using sinking lines.

As the week has progressed, we’ve received some very welcome rain 🌧️. It’s nowhere near enough yet, but hopefully it’s a start 🀞. The rain has helped bring the water temperature down to 17.5Β°C today 🌑️, and some fish are now being taken on the dries again πŸͺ°.

Rhayader angler Roger Lewis managed an impressive 13 fish today 🎣🎣, mainly on shuttlecocks from the Eblid and Sailing Club areas.

On the downside, our water levels continue to fall πŸ“‰. They’re not quite as low as they were in 2022, but I’m sure it won’t be long until they reach those levels.

The EA/NRW have finally called a drought order πŸ’§, which means releases will be scaled back. As a fishery, we are doing everything we can to keep things going πŸ’ͺ.

🎣 Bank Fishing

Bank fishing is currently pretty much only viable along the shores either side of Bwlch y Gle.

Not what you want to see first thing in the morning and only hours after an emergency alert about disposable bbq. One of our rangers was greeted by a very unapologetic person this morning parked by the the lake

🎣 Llyn Clywedog Report β€” 13th August 🎣

🐟 Weekly stock: 1,000
πŸ“ˆ Season to date: 29,750

It definitely seems like Groundhog Day as we experience another couple of very warm days β˜€οΈ. Just as the fish started to show on the dries again last weekend, the weather heats up and the fish move back down into the cooler water πŸŒ‘οΈπŸ’§.

That said, good numbers of fish are once again being taken on sinking lines, lures and bo***es 🎣🐟.

Water levels continue to fall, which is becoming a concern πŸ’§β¬‡οΈ, although there are perhaps signs that a change in the weather is coming 🌦️. Let’s hope so!

The falling water levels are certainly giving us a great opportunity to see some of the features we fish over when the levels are higher β€” hence today’s video πŸŽ₯πŸ‘€.

Due to the warm weather, we stocked early this week, on Monday, before the temperatures rose 🌑️🐟.

🚀 We are fully booked on the boats this weekend, but moving forward from then we have availability πŸ“….

Bank angling is becoming difficult at the top end, but there is plenty of shoreline opening up around Bwlch y Gle 🎣🏞️.

🌟 Some Very Good News from the Lake

We’re seeing some very encouraging signs from Llyn Clywedog today. Good numbers of fish are now being caught on dry flies πŸͺ°, while plenty of trout are still being found down deep.

There have only been a few boats in so far today, but one angler reported 12 fish on dries 🎣, while a boat with two anglers reported an impressive 25 fish on fast-sinking lines.

It certainly looks like the fishing is really starting to change πŸ”„. The water temperature today is 17.4Β°C 🌑️, which is much more in line with what the trout are looking for.

⚠️ The Bad News

Unfortunately, water levels continue to drop πŸ’§. All of our water is released down the River Severn, so we are continuing to see falling levels on the lake.

* Eblid Basin
