Sunday Sailing was a lovely day out on the loch, with 9 sailors and 8 boats out enjoying themselves. We had two Toppers, two Wingfoils, a Vago, two Lasers and the Quest out.

The wind was very on and off throughout the session, eventually dropping away as forecast, but everyone made the most of what was there and had a blast. The weather stayed dry and bright, it was really good to see everyone out enjoying another nice day on the water.

A massive thank you to our rescue boat crew, the hot chocolate crew on shore, and everyone else who came along and helped out. Cheers! ⛵

Terry was a long standing member of Lochcarron Sailing club, who will be sadly missed. He gave his time generously to maintaining the club and helping during club sessions and events, and was kind and welcoming to everyone, young and old, who came to the club.

Passed away peacefully at Broadford Hospital, Isle of Skye on Tuesday 8th September 2026, Terence 'Terry' Hitchen “Woodturner”, Craganour, Lochcarron aged 90 years. Beloved husband of the late Ann, much loved father to Beverley and Keith, grandfather to Sophie and father-in-law to Susan. Well established woodturner in areas throughout and care taker of the Sailing Club, sadly missed by them all. Funeral service on Wednesday 7th October at 11.30am in the funeral home of William T Fraser and Son, Culduthel Road, Inverness. All welcome to attend.

Donations in memory of Terry in support of Heart Recovery Raigmore Hospital can be made at the service or via the funeral directors.

Thursday Sailing was a wild and windy one, with 11 of our junior sailors out having a laugh in the Toppers, making the most of it despite the tide being right out!

The conditions were a bit too wild for much sailing, but everyone enjoyed some bin bag racing, capsizing and generally messing around in the water. Great to see everyone out having fun and enjoying themselves!

The hot chocolates were in high demand when everyone got ashore and the heaters were on for the first time this year! A massive thank you to our rescue boat crews, the hot chocolate crew, and everyone else who came along and helped out. ⛵

Sunday Sailing was a lovely morning out on the loch, with 9 boats and 9 sailors out. There was almost no wind about, but it was warm and a beautiful day to be on the water, especially for halfway through September!

With not much chance of sailing to begin with, there was plenty of paddling about, followed by a game of tag and a scattered objects game. Then just enough wind appeared to get everyone back home We finished off with the obligatory capsize practice! Great to see everyone out having a laugh and enjoying such a lovely morning.

Thursday Sailing was a cracking evening out on the loch! With 7 boats and 17 sailors out having a great laugh. The big event of the evening was the maiden voyage of our new RS Quest. We're absolutely delighted, it's a fantastic addition to the club and exactly the sort of boat we've been looking for, as you can see everyone wanted a go!

There wasn't much wind to begin with, but it soon picked up and gave us some fairly spicy but steady sailing before easing off again towards the end. The rain stayed away and it was great to see so many of our younger sailors out on the water having a brilliant time.
