My current weight is 165lbs and I’m bulking, so I multiply that figure by 1.2 to total 198. As a result I make sure I have an intake of 198g protein per day.

The reason you don’t take as much protein in when you’re bulking is because your body is receiving more calories from carbohydrates and fats, so your protein intake can be lowered. Conversely, when cutting, your total calories from fats and carbohydrates will be lower. To maintain as much size as possible, your protein intake should be higher.
