The Alps are coming.

Our riders have left the rolling lowlands. The pace has eased, not through choice but necessity, as mountains crowd the horizon. Jagged limestone walls replace open pasture. The scale of the day is impossible to ignore.

Getting out is always good, but the most memorable times are often those that put us to the test.

Unknown outcomes. Unexplored terrain. Pedalling further than ever, proving to ourselves through it all that we’ve ended up exactly where we belong.

Six riders take on a 430km route into the Bavarian Alps, in search of the promised and possibly mythical Rapha hütte, where their audacious attempt will be rewarded with much more than a stamp in their brevet cards.

The dirt-road Doyenne, the grand old dame of grit, the Kansas Big Kahuna. The event that has propelled off-road racing to the privileged place in cycling that it occupies today. Unbound tests riders’ resolve like no other race. Chapeau to all of our RCC athletes, who gave the race everything they had.

Victor Bosoni is riding into the night in the Flint HIlls as he pursues the podium in the Unbound XL. He’ll arrive back in Emporia some time tomorrow.

The other RCC athletes in the 100 and 200 events will take the start tomorrow morning from 5:50am local time.
