Online Football Performance Academy:

Whether you are a professional football player, an academy pla

The Player Always Comes First!

Whether you are a coach, physiotherapist, performance analyst, club director, or agent — your role exists because of the players. Without them, there is no team, no game, no system.

The Principle:

“For every individual working in sport, no matter the position, the focus must always be on the player — not on money, not on personal success.”

What That Looks Like in Practice:

1. In Decision-Making
• Every decision — from training loads to contract terms — should answer:
→ “Is this in the player’s best interest?”
• Sacrificing player well-being or long-term development for financial or political gain is a betrayal of trust.

2. In Communication
• Speak with players, not just about them.
• Empower them to take ownership of their growth.

3. In Organizational Culture
• Create environments where players feel safe, respected, and heard.
• Avoid toxic hierarchies where athletes are treated as products instead of people.

The Consequences of Forgetting This:

• When personal agendas or profit come before players, we see:
o Burnout
o Mental health crises
o Broken trust
o Talent lost too early
o A culture of fear or manipulation

Sport becomes transactional, not transformational

The Reward of Putting Players First:

• Players thrive, both on and off the field.
• Trust builds between staff and athletes.
• Organizations gain long-term success, because fulfilled players perform better and
stay committed.

The Physical Demands of Football in an Under-19 Cyprus Football Association Team 06/02/2023

The Physical Demands of Football in an Under-19 Cyprus Football Association Team: A Four-Year Investigation Using GPS Technology

Our Purpose:

Identify:
The purpose of this investigation was to identify the physical demands of the sport and the differences in physical outputs produced by different playing positions within a CFA Under-19 Team.

Compare:
Collecting match running data using a GPS system gave us the opportunity to compare our results with those produced in Professional Football.

Develop:
Because of this, we were able to develop our training in a way that would help us maintain high-performance standards during the season and to gradually prepare our players for the first team.

Share:
Our aspiration is to share our findings with the rest of the teams and especially the ones that are not fortunate to use GPS technology in order to help our Country and our sport evolve.

Train Hard, Train Smart, Train Consistently. The season is coming to an end, and it’s extremely crucial that players make the 3 things below part of their everyday routine in order to see real improvement in their game this offseason. 1. TRAIN HARD Everyone, for the most part, knows and understands what hard work is. This is nothing new, but...

1. Train HARD:
This is nothing new, but it’s an overused word that has become saturated and we often forget what it actually means. If you want to improve your game, you have to put in long, gruelling hours on the pitch and in the gym. There’s no way around it. You have to be willing to get in the gym when others don’t want to get to the gym. You have to shoot when others don’t want to shoot – and yes, that means going by yourself most of the time. You have to make sacrifices and miss out on social events, weekend activities, and vacations at times if you want to separate yourself from the pack.

2. Train SMART:
It means you are carefully managing your life, managing your time, knowing what your goals are, knowing what areas of your game you need to grow and improve on, structure your training and focus on efficiency, meaning quality over quantity. Essentially, working smart means you know how to focus on the things that matter and that is going to unlock your potential as a player. This also includes working on things that will directly translate to in-game success. Talk to your coaches. Find out what it is that is keeping you off the pitch or limiting your playing time and attack and prioritize those weaknesses this offseason.

3. Train CONSISTENTLY:
This is the most important of the three but many players fail in this area because they are not fully committed to the process – they don’t embrace the monotony and boredom of skill development. They would rather work when they feel like it or they get easily distracted by things that don’t directly contribute to their long-term goals. The best players have a routine and they stick to it without fail. The more consistent you are the more confidence you build in the game because there’s ZERO doubt in your mind that you’ve prepared yourself.
