Trying to improve everything all at once CAN be done

But you can’t get away with JUST working hard on the things you think matter

03/09/2026

Tired of working hard but seeing progress?

Whether it’s the fact you can’t get stronger, fitness plateaus, or body composition just doesn’t change the way you want

The reason isn’t usually lack of effort

It’s likely you’re working hard but not in the areas that matter most

If you’re someone who struggles seeing progress despite your willingness to work hard

I’ve been in your shoes, and I have the solution

More to follow soon so keep your eyes peeled 🤘🏻

I don’t think you lack motivation

I think you don’t know what you’re working towards

Random gym sessions, just trying to run as fast as you can every run, and no urgency or clarity with your goals

If you’re serious about your training and physique but haven’t made the progress you want, read the slides 👉🏻

“Enough is enough.”

Have you ever thought that about your fitness?

You have the internal chat with yourself that you’re going to pull it together

You’re finally going to get stronger in the gym and start hitting bigger numbers, because you’re tired of seeing everyone else do it.

You’re desperate to get your 5K time down, because all you seem to see is rapid Strava posts.

You’re ready to build a leaner, more athletic physique, because everyone else seems to be getting stronger, fitter and in better shape.

But you’ve tried before.

So why hasn’t it clicked?

I’ll tell you why.

Two things:

1. You lack clarity.
Your goal is too vague, so your training has no real direction.

2. You lack accountability.
When you’re the only person holding yourself to it, it’s easy to let yourself off the hook.

Simple on paper.

But knowing that doesn’t actually solve the problem.

That’s why I’ve been working on something to solve exactly this.

A structured approach to building strength, improving your running, getting fitter than you’ve been in years, and staying consistent long enough to actually change your physique.

I’m genuinely excited about this one.

More coming soon 🤘

Proof that it’s all in your head

The thing stopping you is listening to the little voice that says you can’t

Sometimes, the only way is through

Here’s 10 lessons I’ve learned (so far) training for a marathon

1. Don’t think, just do - You learn from experience, not overthinking. Get out of your head and just do the thing. You can always try again if it doesn’t work out.

2. The hardest part is getting out the front door - At least 50% of the time I’ve probably not wanted to do my run.. until I’m actually out there feeling class and wondering why I debated not going.

3. Ride the wave - Some miles the legs feel cooked, then the next you’re back on a high, dig in and get through the tough ones and you’ll find the good ones.

4. Recover hard - Refuel and rest. It’s a huge demand on the body, you can’t skip recovery or train hard every session.

5. Respect the distance - Although it’s double a half marathon, the demand physically and mentally is far more. Don’t skip the long run.

6. Doubting yourself is inevitable - Whether it’s paces, the distance, how your body feels. You WILL doubt yourself, what matters is proving yourself wrong.

7. Strength matters - You can build / maintain strength, and you should.

8. The commitment is real - It’s a huge time commitment and you’ll have to sacrifice certain things. Social plans, some family time, your day off, early morning/late evenings.. You need to have your priorities in place.

9. Accept things can go wrong - Injuries, niggles, bad runs, failed runs, you name it. Things can and likely will not go to plan. Adapt and overcome and be prepared for it at any time.

10. I’ve got another level in me - Some runs I have found extremely difficult. Not always the ones you expect. But I’ve learnt that I know I’ve got more to give. Which is the main reason I’ve always wanted to do this challenge.

Complacency punishes.

It’s no coincidence that when I’m bang on it, things more often than not go to plan

(Not always, but mostly)

When one small thing starts to slip because I’ve become complacent, eventually I get punished by the consequence.

Whether it’s the next day, the next week, or the next month.

Previously, when I’ve stopped tracking the small things with my calories, I stopped getting leaner.

When I’ve got comfortable running at the same paces, my fitness stalled.

If I’ve stopped doing my prehab, an injury comes back “out of nowhere”.

Times I’ve let my sleep schedule get later and later, then wondered why I’m tired all the time.

The reality is, when you become complacent, you give up your right to make progress.

Sounds harsh.

But it’s true.

And I’m saying this because I’ve experienced it first hand. I still get complacent with certain things now from time to time.

But the setbacks are the reminder that I need to up my game, and stay on it.

Because the small details are actually the big details.

They compound over time, either in your favour or against you, through the decisions you make every day.

So if you’re asking yourself why your progress has stalled

Why you’re not where you imagined.

Why you’re not getting stronger or fitter.

Why you keep picking up niggles.

Ask yourself this:

“Am I being complacent?”

And this is something I talk about with my clients all the time too.

We work on the small things, because they’re usually the things that make the biggest difference over time.
