There was just something magical about watching David Beckham walk onto the pitch at the Bernabéu under those Champions League floodlights.

The famous white of Real Madrid, the number 23 on his back, that unmistakable technique… and on his feet, a pair of metallic blue adidas Predator Absolutes.

An era when football boots had personality. When you'd spend hours flicking through football magazines, studying every detail of the boots your heroes wore, dreaming of owning a pair yourself.

And these were something special.

That stunning metallic blue leather, the iconic Predator rubber elements, the fold-over tongue and those unmistakable three stripes. A boot that looked every bit as good as Beckham's passing.

For many of us, the Predator Absolute represents a time when adidas were producing some of the most beautiful football boots ever made.

You'd study every single boot, compare the soles, imagine which ones you'd wear and then look at the prices. £79.99 for the top-end Tiempo Premier! An absolute fortune when you were a kid!

And it wasn't just the boots. Look at those shirts! Arsenal with JVC, Dortmund with Die Continentale, PSV with Philips and PSG with Opel. Proper football shirts from a proper era.

No influencers. No unboxing videos. No endless colourways dropping every fortnight.

Just a magazine, a dream and a pair of boots you desperately wanted for Christmas.

You'd circle your favourites, show your mum and dad and hope that somehow, one day, they'd be yours.

The Nike CTR360 became an icon of the early 2010s, and on the feet of Andrés Iniesta it found the perfect match — touch, vision, balance and the ability to dictate a game before anyone else had even seen the pass.

10 pictures. A lifetime of memories.

What made you fall in love with the beautiful game?

For me, it all started with Italia ’90.

I was hooked. That VHS got played over and over until I practically knew every second of it. And Gazza… Gazza was the one. The player who made football feel different. Then came that free kick against Arsenal — one of those moments you never forget.

Then there were the little things that somehow meant everything.

Opening a fresh packet of Merlin stickers. The smell of the album. The excitement of getting a shiny. Taking your swaps into school and somehow coming home with even more duplicates than you started with.

Championship Manager consuming hours of your life. R9 at Barcelona doing things with a football that didn’t seem possible, before becoming part of that incredible Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho era for Brazil.

Puma Kings. The Mitre Ultimax 95. Boots and balls that instantly take you back to muddy pitches, jumpers for goalposts and playing until it was too dark to see.

Sunday afternoons meant Channel 4 and Football Italia. Serie A felt like another world — the stadiums, the kits, the players, the commentary. It was unmissable.

And then there was the Giggsy VHS. Watched again and again, before heading outside to try and recreate everything I’d just seen.

That’s the magic of football nostalgia.

Sometimes all it takes is one picture, one shirt, one pair of boots, one ball or even the opening music from an old TV programme…

…and suddenly you’re a kid again.

Some boots chase the future. Others become timeless.

In 1985, Mizuno introduced the Morelia — a boot built around a beautifully simple philosophy: light, flexible and as close to a barefoot feeling as possible.

Thirty years later, Mizuno celebrated that history with something very special.

The Morelia 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition.

Three generations. Three decades of Japanese boot-making heritage.

The black Morelia Runbird — a complete re-issue of the original, recreated using the original moulds, materials and lasts.

The white Morelia II — the evolution of a design that became synonymous with beautifully soft leather, comfort and craftsmanship.

And the red Morelia Neo — taking that same Morelia DNA and transforming it into a modern lightweight speed boot.

All three were handcrafted from premium kangaroo leather, carrying the Made in Japan hallmark and the special 30th Anniversary detailing.

And Mizuno didn't exactly mass-produce them…

Just 500 individually numbered collector's boxes were released worldwide.

That makes the complete set pictured here a serious piece of football boot history.

The Morelia has been worn by some incredible footballers over the years, including Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos, but perhaps its greatest achievement is that the fundamental idea behind the boot has barely needed to change.

Soft leather. Incredible fit. Beautiful touch. No gimmicks.

Nearly four decades after the original arrived, the Morelia remains proof that sometimes you don't need to reinvent a football boot.

You just need to make it properly.

There are remakes… and then there are remakes that just get it right.

The Nike Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD R9 is comfortably one of the best Nike have ever produced.

Go back to France ’98. Ronaldo Nazário. Silver boots. Blue and yellow detailing. A design that looked like it had arrived from the future — worn by a player who seemed to be doing exactly the same.

That original R9 Mercurial became more than a football boot. It became the beginning of the Mercurial story.

Fast forward to 2016 and Nike reached back into the archives, took that unmistakable R9 colourway and rebuilt it around one of the best modern Mercurials of its era — the Superfly IV.

Flyknit upper. Dynamic Fit collar. Carbon-fibre soleplate.

1998 on the outside. Modern Nike innovation underneath.

And that's exactly why this release worked so well. Nike didn't try to recreate the original stitch for stitch. They took the DNA of one of the most iconic boots ever made and gave it another life for a completely different generation.

Silver. Yellow. Blue.

You don't even need to see the R9 logo to know exactly who this boot is paying tribute to.

Nearly three decades after Ronaldo first made that colour combination legendary, it still hits exactly the same.
