🗣 Didier Deschamps on Malo Gusto:

“He is a very young player, but he can play at right-back, he has played as a winger, and he has played at full-back as well. Already at Lyon, he showed great things. At Chelsea, there is more significant competition, even if he has been helped by an injury to their usual starter (Reece James). He has areas of his game to work on, and he knows that he can improve defensively. But he is a young player who already finds himself at Chelsea, and he has potential which promises further progression in the months to come.”

Garth Crook: "Chelsea haven't just found an element of consistency in their game; they are starting to look like a team where a top-four finish no longer looks completely out of the question."

Frank Leboeuf: “I pray for Nkunku to come back very, very soon because Broja, I’m not convinced yet. And he comes back from injury, so it takes time. Jackson, yeah, he’s getting better. But what I saw from Nkunku for several years, that will make a frontline very competitive.”

Cucurella: "I always said I'm very happy here. There were one or two weeks that were a little bit difficult for me but I'm happy - I have friends here. Sometimes it's part of football with moves but now I'm ready to work hard, wait for my opportunity and when it comes to help the team. Then the most important thing is to win games."

Cucurella: "It's a very good win for us [against Burnley] because we were confident and scored a lot of goals. In other games, maybe we lose confidence [after going behind], but today we followed the game plan, kept building, and kept fighting. The confidence in the team is better after two wins in a row."

Gary Neville: "Chelsea I think probably nearer to it (top 4/5) if they could just go on a run because they have got some really talented young players, their age is a lot better than Manchester United’s squad."

Pochettino on Raheem Sterling's performance:

"I am so pleased because I think he needs to feel the net and he is a player with experience that can provide a very good thing for the team. He created a penalty and then he scored and he was involved for the first goal, the own goal. He's an experienced player and he needs to provide many things to the team."

Pochettino on Cole Palmer:

"He is a very talented player and he has quality. He surprised me when he arrived because it was the day before the transfer window closed. The way he reads situations and what the team needs in every situation, he can be the player who can link with his team-mates.

Still very very young but with great personality and he has the talent and the quality which we saw today."

07/10/2023

Pochettino: "We are a young team, too many new players on the team so you have to build the confidence and the structure of the team. We are playing well but we need to improve and be more confident in front of goal. I am happy and at the moment we are building our confidence and three victories in the last three games is important for this young group."
