Hi, I’ve started swimming again.

I promised myself I would stop swimming until the new year to let my mind and body recover from the toll of swim training. But, it’s the new year now - I moved to London, started a great new job, and I’m ready to start pushing my body again. This year I want to compete in a 10km or 15km swim. Tested out a new pool yesterday, and my training plan starts tomorrow 🎉

The coverage continues… it already feels like a lifetime ago. Thank you again for all the love, OVER £5,500 RAISED 🎉🎉🎉

Finally feeling more like myself again. Adjusting to life post-swim, trying to gain some strength back, and being completely overwhelmed by the love and support from everyone who has followed this insane journey.

My brain is starting to work again, but my body is still very sore and broken.

(Amelia here) As you’ll probs see on the tracker, I just made the very tough decision to pull my swim at 11 hours and 45 mins. I was making no progress in the 4 miles left to France and we were being pulled by the tide along the french coast. Im obviously very disappointed and very tearful, but I’m in no way disappointed with myself. I gave today everything I had and I’m so immensely proud of myself. I have the best crew who all agreed it was the right decision and looked after me so well. Can’t wait to see all the messages of support and update you all properly when I’m back on dry land 🧡

And she’s off! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Amelia’s channel swim has begun!!!

TOMORROW I AM SWIMMING THE ENGLISH CHANNEL!!! Shi**ing my pants a bit now, but the conditions look great and I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got. Meeting on the boat at 02:30am tomorrow morning. The man behind the wheel, Eric, has given me a temporary go ahead for early weds morning!!! Will be driving down to Dover tomorrow morning, waiting for the final go ahead tomorrow evening. 18 months and 3 weeks later!!! HOPING this is my final prep swim… I am the next swimmer to go, hoping I’ll be dumped in the channel anytime from Tuesday 🎉
