Whetstone Athletic Pumas U10’s

Top performance from the lads tonight down at Aylestone Park. Played some great football, but more importantly worked together all over the field to score some good goals and keep a clean sheet ⬜️
A week off now, before we start the season at home against Wigston Willow at Elizabeth Park ⚽️🌳🌳

Tough test for the Pumas this morning as they travelled over to Hinckley to take on Hinckley Titans U11s.
There was little to separate the sides in a competitive first half, with both teams playing some good football and testing the goalkeepers. Despite the Pumas creating chances, Hinckley managed to nick a goal against the run of play just before the break.
With no substitutes available, the Pumas battled hard in the second half as they looked to get themselves back into the game. As the boys began to tire, Hinckley found more space and applied further pressure, adding two goals to put the game beyond reach.
A tough but valuable test for the boys against an older side, and plenty to take away from the game.
Next up, we head to Aylestone Park on Wednesday evening for our final pre-season friendly ⚽️🌳🌳

After a summer of tournament near misses, the boys finally got over the line today in what was a fantastic performance at a very competitive and brilliantly run tournament at Beaumont Park.
It took a huge effort from the whole team and a real reflection of the work rate and commitment shown by every player to only concede once throughout the day.
A brilliant way to continue our positive start to the new season 💪🏻⚽️🌳🌳

The boys kicked off pre-season last week with an away fixture at Beaumont Park, putting in a solid performance. They took that into this morning’s game at Ingles which was a great competitive game.
The opening half was closely fought with both sides creating some good opportunities. Both goalkeepers were called upon to make some excellent saves, ensuring the scores were level going into half time.
The second half saw the Pumas step things up and the boys increased the pressure, moved the ball with greater purpose and began to find more space in the final third. They were much more clinical in front of goal, turning their pressure and chances into some really well-taken goals to get the result they deserved.
Next week we head over to Beaumont Park for our first tournament of the season 💪🏻⚽️🌳🌳

That's a wrap! Another season complete for the Pumas. It's been a fantastic and progressive campaign for the boys. Playing up a year has benefited them massively, helping them develop their understanding of the game, build confidence, and experience all the highs and lows that football brings.
The season finished with a busy tournament month, where we reached 3 out of 5 finals but unfortunately couldn't quite get over the line, and that's football.
A huge thank you to all of our parents and families for your continued support, encouragement and commitment throughout the season. Now it's time for a well-earned break before we come back refreshed and ready to go for another season 💪🏻⚽️🌳🌳

After a cruel semi-final defeat last weekend, today ended not the way we wanted it to end, losing in the quarter-finals on penalties in our home tournament.
Massively proud of every single one of the lads. The effort and commitment throughout the tournament was fantastic, and penalties is anyone's game.

A great day and a brilliantly run tournament at Whetstone. Thank you to everyone involved and to those who supported us. We'll take the positives, learn from it, and come back stronger next week at Coalville! 💪⚽️🌳🌳

The lads finished off the season in style this morning with a strong win in one of their best performances of the season, over a very tough Loughborough Lions side.
After a cagey 20 minutes, the Pumas opened the scoring and added a further 2 in quick succession. They were made to work hard for the goals and managed to add to their tally in the second half while keeping a clean sheet in what was a great game of football. We now look forward to a month of tournaments, in the hope of winning some silverware! 🏆⚽️🌳🌳

We headed over to Boldmere today for the Boldmere St Michael Tournament, and the boys were outstanding from start to finish. After winning every game on the way to the final without conceding a single goal, we unfortunately fell just short at the last hurdle, losing 2–1 in a closely fought final. It was a brilliant day all round in a well run tournament, made even more special by walking out to the Champions League anthem 🎶⚽️🌳🌳
