Javid Basharat:
In every sport, winning is the ultimate objective. Performance matters for sure but the results are what truly count at the end of the day. If winning doesn’t matter, then what exactly are we competing for?

I felt my departure was unjust, especially considering what went on behind the scenes. I never turned down anything they offered or asked of me. Not because I cared about pleasing them, but because I’ve always been willing to challenge myself and find my own path in the chaos.

But I had a blemish on my record, and if people wanted to pick at straws, they had something to point to. Fair enough, even though all the greats bar one have lost.

With Farid, that blemish doesn’t exist. The winning streak is the longest in the division , and the results speak for themselves.

Now, Farid is a low-risk fighter, but not because he’s afraid to take chances. But because he gives the opposition very few chances. He has this special ability to take away his opponent’s momentum the moment they start building it. He shuts things down, neutralises threats and not many fighters have the ability to do that.

People who don’t understand the intricacies of fighting might call that ‘boring’. But ask your favourite fighter what time it is, and they’ll tell you they love the Basharat Show 😀✌🏼

I just got sent this and I’m going to leave you with this ☕️ 🥐

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
The news is confirmed, I am no longer with the UFC.
I’ve had an incredibly successful time in the organisation. I’m proud and happy with what I’ve accomplished inside the Octagon. I leave with a stainless record. Holding the longest active win streak in my weight division and the fourth longest in the entire UFC. I feel I’m the best bantamweight in the world.
I always turned up and fought regardless of injuries and weight deficits. And I always asked for the toughest opponent to get me closer to the title.
But my departure clearly has nothing to do with my fighting capabilities. Unfortunately the organisation just isn’t what it used to be. They’re heading in a different direction from what we all grew up loving.
I want to clarify that since my last fight I was never offered a contract or an opponent, I waited but it never came. I’ve certainly never declined a fight during my whole tenure.

I want to thank the UFC staff with whom I’ve developed a great relationship these past few years. And most importantly thank you to the fans for all your support ❤️

I’m still young, the best is yet to come inshaAllah.

Knowing who you are is freedom.
Never forget where you come from.
My blood is Afghan and I could never fully explain the pride it gives me.
England gave me a life I could never have imagined, and for that, I will always be grateful 🇦🇫🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️
